I remember her ripping up a picture of the pope on SNL. She was villified for that. How right she turned out to be of course, she spoke out about many issues. A courageous woman, a troubled mind and a great singer. RIP.

Someone mentioned mental issues, well, no wonder. According to Sinead, her mother used her as a doormat she could walk on, literally, and that's more likely just the tip of the iceberg. Catholic school abuse, all that.
Men in the industry, allegedly, were not exactly kind to her either. From what I heard, that bag of dicks Waters tried to persuade her to lip sync at his 1990 Berlin show (What a dumbass, seriously, why would you persuade someone with THE VOICE like that to lip sync, in the first place?). She wanted to perform live and she wasn't feeling unwell or anything like that. Sounds like another of his narcissistic, control freak tantrums he'd pull off occasionally. Poor Rick Wright was his previous victim.
And what's more frustrating to me, Prince was abusive to her as well.
This world will drive you mad if you allow it. It's sad that music, being this another dimension you can sneak in and escape occasionally, was not enough to save her.
