I have a few synths that have really good reverbs: GForce, OB-E, Spectrasonics Omnisphere, Vengeance Avenger are the ones that quickly pop to mind.
But I have come to the point where I wish most (all?) don't.
GForce developed a great Reverb so now their factory bank has presets that are flooded with Reverb.
I disliked immensely the Tin Can Reverb in Cypher 2 and Strobe 2, they really should have kept the AR ones from the original Synth Squad.
I dislike the Plate reverb in Diva and always end up turning it way down in presets.

And one of the reasons why I believe I love Tal J-8, and the softube model stuff is that they have no reverb... For me who generally like most of my instruments dry, they work perfectly and fit in my mix perfectly without me having to turn down reverb, and the presets have to sound good without Reverb. Actually Patrick said he didn't put a reverb in Tal J8 partially for this reason, wish he didn't put one in Tal U NO LX, cause a lot of the third party banks developed after he did have way too much reverb imho.

Cableguys' Curve provides no FX at all.

Kind of funny when looking at their quite impressive Shaperbox-tool.

Maybe because he 'created' them within 21 minutes, according to the time stamp. :hihi:
two bucks says that they're going to be scam selling within a week.

Some of them sound great (Massive X for eg), some sound not so great (Vital) but as with built in delays, if I want to apply dynamics processing, I'm not especially keen to apply it post delay/reverb. I know many synths have built in compressors but I find them often lacklustre and I've got way better ones I'd rather use as an insert. So for me, in built spatial effects in a synth are used for previews but rarely in the final product.

It baffles the mind that supposed "workhorse" synths like Pigments, Hive or Serum only have very limited reverb options. It's not like having extra algorithms lead to feature bloat.

I also like the reverb of ANA2.

You could take the best reverb for pigments, it won't make it sound better, though

It's probably a fair point as I will tend to use an external verb like valhalla but I don't think all synth reverbs are bad per se. I have no issue with using reverb on a lot of synths in a creative way linked to envelopes and modulation which imo is far easier to do using envelopes linked to the sound than external modulation.

You're not alone. I think onboard reverbs are more for providing context to sounds that are meant to be drenched in it. Turning off the reverb and replacing it with an outboard one almost always gives a better result.

Kinda proves the rule, as the reverb wasn't developed by the people who developed the synth.

Cool! Didnt know this, explains a lot. One of the best shimmer verbs around, imho.
