How is the audio editing in ableton better than reaper?

Well this is crazy as I don't use Live and don't like the interface. But in a brief looping experiment yesterday I learned how easy it is to fix small timing errors. You just click above the error and place it where you want. Takes about 20 seconds to fix a poorly timed two bar recording. Certainly got the attention of this second rate guitarist.

exactly, shift+W, drag to taste...rafa1981 wrote: Sat Feb 25, 2023 6:18 am Is it way easier than Reaper's stretch markers? With those you click to insert a marker (probably with a shortcut modifier) and then move it.

There is a new version today, seems they fixed itSongwriter101 wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2023 10:29 pmYeah, that's odd.Sawtooth Fairy wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2023 8:30 pm Strange, I just noticed that the plugin does sound, but only when I play the virtual keyboard on the GUI. My Midi keyboard does not play notes, but as I said before, the red LED in Reaper signals that the Midi keyboard works.
With all other plugins the Midi keyboard works fine.
Very odd, I never had that problem before.
I think the guys on the Reaper forum could help you out faster and better. I don't know what it could be, other than the obvious issues like the midi channel or to reset all midi devices

I'm maybe the biggest Reaper fanboy you'll ever meet but I can still admit that Ableton got some things right. For example, the way every audio clip automatically has those transient markers that are so easy to double click and drag around. And the transient detection while not perfect is still fairly good.
In contrast, in Reaper you can run Dynamic Split on media items to add stretch markers to every transient, which is far from automatic and is obviously different from having "potential" transient markers that can be activated as a warp marker at any time. Also the transient detection is mediocre. Alternately, you can add a stretch marker by clicking in the item with a mouse modifier or by running an action via keyboard shortcut to insert the marker under the mouse. To me that's still less immediate and satisfying than Live's method.
In general, it's nice how in Live each audio clip is can essentially be viewed on it's own independent timeline which shows you the entire source file rather than just the audio within the bounds of the clip in the arrangement. That's cool. But then Reaper is so much better at so much other stuff...

Oh totally, simple things like the macro knobs, make assigning controllers a lot easier.NAD wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:06 am I'm maybe the biggest Reaper fanboy you'll ever meet but I can still admit that Ableton got some things right.
Though I focus on Reaper, I have an Intro version of Live too which I find is great when I need a change of perspective or just a different way of working. Don't do much with loop based composition but there if I need it etc.
As for Dynamic Splits, yeah... I tried to use Reaper when I was splitting down a bunch of old vinyl rips but couldn't get it get right, either three split points or 627...

pre2 released "* Includes feature branch: FX containers" What does it mean, could you help?
BTW the refresh rate of the UI has been raised for sure, playhead goes pretty smoothly compared to the latest non-beta version

v5 was quite crazy with the numbering.
The last version update was 5.987 to 5.99, and v5.9 (as in 5.9XX) had more than 30 public releases.
By the time of 5.98X I thought they'd just keep going beyond 5.999 by adding new digits
This time around I'll also need the get a new licence.
