wanted a new synth can be procrastination
wanting a new computer can be procrastonation
a new guitar can. e procrastination
if there’s nothing wrong with your old stuff
and you haven’t made a banging song with that stuff yet
does a beginner really need amazing speakers
a top of the range midi controller
a top class microphone
sick monitors
or could he just get started with an old
laptop or what he had lying around ?
ask yourself this question
is any paid synth better than the free synths probably not
is a £300 mic gonna make much different to your recordings than a £100 one?
i see adverts get the best gear possible before we have even pressed a key
it’s procrastination
get an old cheap keyboard dust off that computer get some basic ass software
too much time
and money wasted for this crap lol
sitting on this site procrastination

Nope. Procrastonation is when you put off tuning your guitar.

buying new gear can be a way of feeling like you are a musician, that you belong in the world of musicians, when it doesn't mean that at all, it is just consumerism. One of the features of consumerism is the replacement of doing and being with buying and owning.

There is an element of consumerism to what we do here, but that's not the whole truth. Finding an instrument that really works with you is a damn trying experience and no demos on YT can help you with that process. You really need to sit down and work with something for weeks before you know. Example, I researched the Nord Lead 4 to bits before I bought it. Listened to demos, talked to lots of people. I found one in a store and played it for about an hour. It checked all my boxes. Two months later I found it to be one the most boring an uninspiring instrument I ever owned.neverbefore wrote: Thu Aug 03, 2023 2:05 am buying new gear can be a way of feeling like you are a musician, that you belong in the world of musicians, when it doesn't mean that at all, it is just consumerism. Finding stuff that you love takes time.
