I hear it easiest in a supersaw sound, cause that means there's tons of movement and phasing happening.

You do realize they had a talk/comparison of this awhile back and it was proven to be bullshit. Seems the only people who still try to make it an issue are the ones who have buyers remorse from other very expensive synths that do far less in far more complicated ways.
Have you tried Vital?

I love Vital but to my ears it has a kind of scooped out sound. There's something going on with the stereo separation or mixing together.

The only thing i seriously don't like in Vital is reverb, need better one definitely.
As well could replace noise osc with 2x2 osc which link each other or other tricks for thick sound, cause there is a lot more to be done in that department in most synths .
I'm not tech guy so maybe it's only in my imagination but imagine 4 osc synced progressively to move phase and in the same time to reshape osc combined with adsr reashaping and other candies from mod matrix like extra layers with lfo and volume dynamics.
I do such simple stuff easy with Sylenth1,but it's limited by non-reshapable osc and other static parameters.
Modern synths try to make everything inside one stream, which is ridiculous - in real world the real sound is naturally complex of multi layered sounds.
How we suppost to make realistic 3d sound with 2 speakers, when even synths aren'r designed for such purpose ?
Well sound design help a bit ,but still multi layering is best way to do it.
Cheers

Vital is capable (in the right hands) of making awesome sounds. Is it perfect? No of course not, nothing is perfect.
But if you spend your time looking for perfection all you'll find is disappointment.

And Vital is, by far, my fav synth. Just because the way it is set up I get the sounds I want so quickly. It doesn't get in the way.
My only gripe is the tax on the CPU (not as energy efficient at all) and I would like different flavours of filters in there.
Just a tip: the drive on the filters sounds a lot better (imo) if you back off the level of the oscillators going into the filter.

Somehow, for me, it complements Serum (my #1 synth).
I’m not a sound designer by any stretch of imagination, but I don’t think those presets from Sound Author could be reproduced, overall, in Serum.
He did a phenomenal work in his last Hive bank.

would you mind showing that proof? im very interested in what you mean! because to me vital has a distinct sound that only vital has of all synths.Psuper wrote: Tue Aug 01, 2023 8:07 pm You do realize they had a talk/comparison of this awhile back and it was proven to be bullshit. When you're wondering about the sound quality of any synth, take into consideration the number of presets users have created for that synth.
If a synth sounds bad why would anyone bother to take the time to make so many presets for it?
In the case of Vital there are literally thousands of presets created by countless users so when someone comes along and says "it sounds bad" no matter how minute that complaint that may be we have to ask ourselves one question.
Are all the people who have used Vital for sound design and composition wrong or ?

If it sounds good to me, I'm using it. No matter what the 'experts' say.

Vital is absolutely amazing. And yes, it does sound good because you have almost infinite control over how it sounds. This includes the filters that you can drive into or not, which changes the sound.
Anybody claiming Vital somehow sounds bad just doesn't have a clue how to tweak it to suite their needs.. or they are allergic to some specific component within Vital that is present in almost every preset/sound found on the web, like the OTT compressor effects block. Solution? Just disable it.
