I didn't see a thread dedicated to this so I thought I'd start one by singing its praises. (No affiliation or anything, just a happy user!)

I'd been thinking about adding sax to some of my music. Sax was my first instrument and, while I haven't played in quite a while, I still love Rollins, Coltrane, Shorter, Garbarek, etc. Playing in an apartment building probably wasn't going to happen so I looked to software. SWAM looked pretty attractive but then I stumbled upon this sample/physical modeling and it kind of blew me away.

When I got my hands on it, I found it was pretty easy to get the sounds I heard in demos. Of course knowing the mechanics of a sax and how saxophonists phrase things helps a lot. But the toolkit is there. I'm using it with an EWI, which I'm admittedly still learning, but it feels very natural playing it. And there are 2 sax models per type (soprano, alto, tenor, bari), giving you some core tonal options alongside mic placement, tongue and key levels, etc.

This guy does a great job demoing it with guitar! He mentions that SWAM has some expressivity advantages, but the tone of VHorns just has the edge for me.
