There are already EQ plugins that analyze reference songs and
then align the frequencies of a current song. These plugins then
lead to AI-based mastering.

Of course, there will also be AI-based DAWs that automatically
create a whole mix.

With ChatGPT, there is already an AI that can write a good text
on any given topic. There will also be - in a second stage - an
AI that will write the entire song for a given genre.

And of course, there will be so-called "AI-Bots" in the forums
that will write reviews, ratings and criticism for the songs.

Anyone who has thought along until this point will notice one
thing: the AI composes the song, writes the lyrics and produces
the song. Finally, the AI mixes and masters the song. At the end,
the AI listens to the song - and evaluates it.

This is a closed AI loop: The human being is no longer present
anywhere. Because the AI listens to its own songs - evaluates
them - writes new songs again, etc. When this development has
really got going in a few years, then it will only be the AI that is
active and creative.

Anyone who wants to get involved in this cycle - maybe even
want to become creative himself or herself - will have to realize
brusquely and hard that he doesn't fit in: He is eternally too
incompetent, too incapable, too slow! The AI can do everything
better - and it develops infinitely fast. It develops music by AIs for
AIs!

i see you've never used chatgpt. i'd never take anything it says as gospel without manually fact checking every last bit of it. which kind of defeats the purpose ... and that's been my experience with the "ai-assisted" plugins too. i generally find the decisions they make to miss the forest for the trees.

it is confident. not necessarily competent. but then, that's probably a number of us, too.

"Good" is definitely arguable It can put words together into coherent-looking sentences. But you're lucky if it doesn't just make shit up at random and then pass it off authoritatively as fact. Much like the average forum poster on a music site

Have you seen the backlash about AI-written articles on websites? The writing style tends to suck, the articles are full of errors and there's just not any point. Business owners would like to fire their writers and editors but the day they can do that has not arrived.

If we ever have real AI, maybe it'll listen to and/or make music because it enjoys it. And to that I say.... great! Maybe they'll make music I want to hear too. Maybe I'll make music they want to hear. No doubt they'll also develop genres that only they can appreciate, but I also think anything on that level would find inspiration in human collaboration.

Today's machine learning stuff is not close to that.

The main issues we're going to have with "AI" is not that humans will be obsolete as such, but the trouble that's already here:

- Accusations of "plagiarism" by artists whose work is used in the data set. Not technically true, but I can also sympathize with not wanting one's work used in this way.
- People losing their jobs to AI. (This is as more a capitalism problem than an AI one; many previous waves of technology have had similar effects. But this time I expect we're going to have to transition to that life of leisure that science fiction promised when I was a kid. The idea that the only human jobs would be things AI can't do is not comforting.)
- AI replacing people's jobs badly (and in unexpected ways compared to incompetence and mistakes in humans).
- Misinformation/disinformation spread by chatbots to people all too willing to believe them uncritically.
- Deepfakes and other *intentional* disinformation.
- Some not so great art trends. I'm already getting tired of seeing obviously AI-generated album covers etc.
- Feature bloat. I don't need "AI" in my web browser, search engine, car or light switch.

Yes, this is the case if you let ChatGPT write scientific or journalistic texts. But only now.
In a few years, an AI will be much more reliable.

But that doesn't apply to lyrics. There is no such thing as "right" or "wrong". And here
ChatGPT has already extremely impressed some musicians.
