Here is some piece of music I made solely with the TAL JP-8, it is a live take with the JP-8 and the soundforce SFC-8 controller to do some tweaking live.
Really a great instrument for ambient/soundscore stuff.

Oh I don't try to match knobs/sliders, I use my ears to match them..
In the last comparison file I did ,all the sliders were in different positions for all the synths.
The Roland Cloud version was by far the most different
Arturia also made changes to the layout that changes how you interact with it as well, in terms of the envelope polarity
Resonance is where the most differences happen, and it's what makes the hardware synth sound the way it does with that wet Roland sound

There is an update for J8 (the PC one was up since Friday, the mac one today) that I would highly recommend for anyone on 1.7.2.
This update is 1.7.3.
1.7.2 had an issue that if you weren't careful, whilst tagging presets you could accidentally overwrite another preset.

Now I am confused. The latest version I see on the TAL Software website is 1.7.1.

If you download it it will be 1.7.3..
Sadly Patrick is notorious for constant updates when he is 'on the go' and not updating the version boldly written on the page and the change log.
But download it, it will be 1.7.3 (well at least it was up to yesterday) who knows he might have even put up a 1.7.4 by now.

Also he is now at 1.7.6..Agreed with the need for a manual and indeed online may make more sense.
What are some of the things you don't know what they do?
Maybe someone here can help.

I just noticed that in the Change Log for v 1.6.1 that one of the bullets was:
-CLAP plug-in format including support for polyphonic expressions added.
I've tested polyphonic modulation with the CLAP J-8 plugin in Bitwig and it does not work for me. It just modulates the slider, so it isn't polyphonic. Does this work for anyone else?

Yes but note expressions aren't working polyphonically. Or you mean he was talking only about MPE expressions, not CLAP host-based modulations?perpetual3 wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 12:18 amI think he means note expressionsEchoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2023 1:17 pm I just noticed that in the Change Log for v 1.6.1 that one of the bullets was:

Hmmm…. No I thought he meant note expressions. Must be bugged.
