NI S Series Paired with Repro Frustration

I have an S88 and I've hooked up every parameter of Repro-5 to fit the NI MIDI mode screen; I get a fairly hands on experience. My only qualm holding me back is that the MIDI mode screen resets all params to 0 when I turn the device off (this does not affect the params on Repro). My solution to this has been to initialize Repro to a preset where all params are 0 and work from there. Does anyone have a workaround to this issue (last session recall-type-thing)? Is it worth buying a SFC-5 or a synth with a bunch of knobs with MIDI functionality over?

No midi controller reflect the position of a vst and getting a SFC-5 won't change that.
It is the same on most hw Synths so when you dial in a preset the knob position will be different to what the preset is playing.

Some hw synths have a option so that it won't change the preset unless you move the knob to where the preset setting is and some have Performance Mode that reflect what it is set to on the synth panel.

Seems like you are too used to vst's where you will always see what the knob position is on a preset and a HW synth will not be the same experience unless you go for Synths that have Deep menues or no Presets or a Performance Mode..

This is what NKS is for, you do not need to create midi maps for Repro as it is NKS compatible

I use Elektron boxes a fair lot and am used to knowing what the values of everything is; I presume that it's a bit unfair for me to expect that I can make a MIDI controller behave in a similar manner of a genuine Prophet. I mentioned SFC because their controllers force the VST params to match the CC values shown on the hw, this poses a solution to my question. I guess I never thought about preset changing and not knowing what values changed. So, in that sense I am too used to menu diving. My frustration stems from the fact that every time I return to my S88-Repro combo, I have to start over rather than continuing where I left off.

I have the SFC-5 and it does the same as S88-Repro Combo so the knob position on the SFC-5 doesn't match the preset or start Repro with what is set on the knobs + You have to Midi learn all the parameters before it is ready to go.

This! Just use the NKS version in Komplete Kontrol or Maschine if you have that, it’s all premapped.

If you don't enjoy NKS, just leave the S88 on. The cost of the electricity won't change your lifestyle, but greatly easing your creative experience might, if you're a great player, or are on that path! Stress is deadly. All the small stresses add up.

I'm not a huge fan of the NKS mapping, especially the lack of utilization of the buttons (as with all NKS plugins).

I presume that would work. But when your S88 is in close proximity to your bedspace, you'd see the glow of the screen.

I refrain from suggesting things to safely cover the screen, as it might derail the thread when better suggestions come rolling in.
Even if the S88 manual comes to mind, I won't mention it. But you're on the right track musically, and that's what really matters.
