Yes the issue is because you are using scaling of apps in your OS. I have the same issue here. If you turn scaling off and view it at 100% it will size normally. For me I can't see the rest of the apps as they are too small so I can't use the plug. Many Hornet plugins have the same issue. I spoke with the developer of Hornet and they haven't figured out how to poll the OS to find out what scale settings are being used to compensate.

There's a lot more to PolyMAX than just being another simple synth. The reverb alone is better than the built in reverb in most synths. And they actually built a prototype PolyMAX synth on a breadboard using a clone of the vintage SSM 2040 chip and SSI 2164s for the osc. There's a picture of breadboard prototype synth on the UADforum.
And the product designer Patrick Aurelio from Universal Audio discusses the creation of PolyMAX, he explains that PolyMAX was made to emulate the sound and character of gear designed by synthesizer pioneer Dave Rossum. And when asked about the affiliation between Universal Audio and Rossum ElectroMusic, Aurelio acknowledges the close partnership between the two companies.

You've got a point.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2023 11:01 pmI'm imagining their target audience hasn't used a synth more complicated than a Jupiter 8. You and I aren't that audience, but I imagine there's a lot of people who actually love this synth because it's so basic, and the sound quality is definitely there.ThomasHelzle wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2023 6:52 pm Hm - always heard good things about UAD and thought I should try this, but this is as boring as it gets.
If they want to attract new users with freebies, they should at least have some spunk and show some muscle, otherwise they leave me with a bit of a question mark on the whole brand.
Why would anybody pay 217 Euro for this?
And a downloader that tries to start itself on each boot without asking? Really?
Instant uninstall.

I see. Thank you for the info. This is one of the few apps that give me an issue. I wonder if this is the same issue I am seeing with a couple of Rob Papen's instruments that fill 1/4 of a big white square. It makes sense given my scaling is set to 200 percent.Scotty wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 12:27 am Yes the issue is because you are using scaling of apps in your OS. I have the same issue here. I need the scaling to be able to see anything though, and other than those couple of Rob Papen apps and PolyMAX, I have no issues.

The whole 'fading in the GUI' thing when loading up the plugin is such nonsense though and gives a very wrong feel of about to being slapped with a 'register this plugin' notification or as if it's taking its sweet time to phone home.
Apart from that; far from my favourite synth workflow wise, but I do like the sound. Huge volume drops when using the resonance on the filters I find less desirable.

I got PolyMax free, I reinstalled iLok to test it out. Not thrilled at iLok Cloud being used here and very clearly, as you say, fading in the GUI as it phones home. Even for free, I had to get rid of it from my system as the Cloud nonsense is already going to be an issue. It helps that the sound is pretty average too so I won't miss it.LFO8 wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 7:17 am The whole 'fading in the GUI' thing when loading up the plugin is such nonsense though and gives a very wrong feel of about to being slapped with a 'register this plugin' notification or as if it's taking its sweet time to phone home.

You can authorise it to you hardware iLok (which is what I did) but it wont make a difference to the fading in of the GUI upon loading.BriocheBaps wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 7:34 amI got PolyMax free, I reinstalled iLok to test it out. Yes, 1 second of fade-in upon plugin loading certainly is the world's first problem on the list of plugin problems.LFO8 wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 7:17 am The whole 'fading in the GUI' thing when loading up the plugin is such nonsense
People and even animal life are being hurt by that alone and someone should pass a structure of law to Biden staff members so perhaps someone forces the evil company to stop doing that.
It is such nonsense and it is making the whole plugin less enjoyable. I mean it perhaps is on a margin of 2 seconds which seems to be on the sole edge of terrorism.

FWIW, my last 3 purchases from UA did not receive the Thank You voucher. YMMV.XpanderDude wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 6:42 pm yes. i just purchased the API vision channel strip and got a voucher about 4-5 hours later in my account.

No, not the end of the world... but I don't like the fade-in either. It's a tiny annoyance that happens over and over, and it takes away from the "this is hardware" illusion that UAD is based on.kmonkey wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 6:57 pmYes, 1 second of fade-in upon plugin loading certainly is the world's first problem on the list of plugin problems.LFO8 wrote: Sat Aug 05, 2023 7:17 am The whole 'fading in the GUI' thing when loading up the plugin is such nonsense

I dunno...I'm with kmonkey here. Of all the things in the world to label nonsense, the plugin GUI fading in for one second isn't in my top 1,000. Arturia's plugins are still painfully slow to load on my Windows machine. Taking around 20+ seconds on first launch. The UADx plugins, with their 1 second fade are the Flash in comparison.
Would everyone be happier if the plugin GUI just took a second longer to open but without the fade?
