Well if you have money to burn, I have and recommend the Shure KSE1500. They are especially useful on flights because they have -37 db of attenuation across a wide frequency-spectrum.

Anything with a sensitivity of 96dB/mW or more would cover a laptop (unless your laptop has a powerful audio amp designed for high-impedance/low sensitivity headphones, such as any of the recent MacBooks, in which case pretty much most any pair of headphones will work). Look at some headphones in your budget and Google the sensitivity.

All speakers/headphones colour audio to some degree or other, even the best studio monitors. If you're looking for headphones with the least colouration for price, generally speaking you want to be looking at IEMs and not headphones.

I use HD25s on-the-go; they're far from being uncoloured though, but I like them. No-one can tell you 'the best headphones', in the same way no-one can tell you the best car to buy. Everything depends on your budget and personal preferences.

You might also want to take a look at dSONIQ or SoundID Reference to reduce colouration. Both come with system-audio and VST3 support.

I wanted something not expensive with neutral sound and mainly comfortable.

Old standby Sony MDR-7506. They fold up relatively small for travel. I've used them on many airplanes. The only downside is the flaky earpad material, but sheepskin or (cheaper) corduroy replacement pads are easy to find and way more comfortable. They do shade towards the lower end of the frequency spectrum.
