What's yours, Fender? Any preference to the woods?

While being a budget guitar, it might be comparable to the lower priced Squiers , etc.
It would be great for a beginner, modder or a dedicated Nashville tuning or slide guitar.

Electrics seem to be the biggest downfall, a Wilkinson WVOB Alnico pickups for Telecaster/Broadcaster might be a good replacement, along with a Tusk. Those pickups are getting good reviews.

What's yours, Fender? Any preference to the woods?

Yeah, mine's a Fender. I forget what wood the body is (it's very heavy compared to Squire, Affinity, etc). The neck is maple. Previously owned a Tokai "Breezy Sound" which was pretty good too, but prone to snapping strings right on the bridge saddles. It had a Seymour Duncan stacked-humbucker in the bridge position.

I got my hands on one, very nice fret work (unlike a new HB TE-52), I played every fret with no notceable buzzes.
Just needs a setup.

The action was high and saddle radius wasn't set, the saddles were just maxed out leaving a very high action. This can be adjusted to taste. The intonation was slightly out, it too can adjusted easily.

A 44.35mm poplar body, were some others have 40mm (usually basswood). I played many a bend and it kept its tune very well.

Adding Artec or Wilkinson WVTN pickup at the neck and a WVOB in the bridge position would elevate this guitar. A tusk nut would also be welcomed, all for a budget price.
