With the book example, my point was more about the *lack* of absolutes than anything. For something like a GUI, I would think there would be even less of an issue with adhering to any particular convention. If the text is legible and conveys the function of the UI elements clearly, it seems like a non-issue to me.BBFG# wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 1:58 am I have forty years of books that tell me that some of you are stating absolutes in printing that have never existed.
And the company's lack of transparency has been a major factor of not jumping on board. I just like to keep abreast of the changes and waiting for a no-brainer offer to look past that.
Corona is one of the first synths I ever bought, and I'll probably end up upgrading, but since I'm already accustomed to the existing GUI and I don't have a Mac that would benefit from any of the compatibility updates, it's basically $29 for a minor quality of life improvement and a goodwill investment. I'd hoped 6.0 would have some improvements in the actual sound of the synth over 5.1 (mostly better anti-aliasing, which has always been its weak point) or more expressivity (MPE would be great) but for now, it's functionally the same synth it was 8 years ago.

Have you set the combine mode for the oscillator to "add" (or at least something other than "off") and turned the level up? Those are the main culprits I could think of.boombaxx wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 6:23 am Is the user wave broken select a wave nada nothing. Goes for the factory waves as well. The recent update has incorporated significant technical advancements. It's now ported to the Apple Silicon architecture, includes VST3, AAX, and standalone builds, brings in Linux support, has a retina GUI, and introduces brand new high-resolution assets amongst other minor enhancements.cthonophonic wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:17 am With the book example, my point was more about the *lack* of absolutes than anything. These additions are substantial and, in many respects, justify the update price. Remember, enhancements aren't just about sound, which is exceptional already, but also about broadening the usability and accessibility for a wider range of users.

Understood and I only gained a slight interest in this one because of the introduction of a Linux version. Which is now a major consideration (although not singularly absolute) for me.cthonophonic wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:17 amWith the book example, my point was more about the *lack* of absolutes than anything. I'm more concerned with this company about their lack of upgrade transparency. I trawl these threads to see if that's making a change in the positive. As far as the GUI, I also really dislike their drop down preset browser.

This is disparate marketing. They are minor but they are also substantial... ???discoDSP wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 9:09 am ...amongst other minor enhancements.
These additions are substantial...
There-in lies the "rub" with this update for me: the enhancements aren't ultimately worth $30US for the upgrade, to me. So I shall pass. But this little "slip" in marketing by disco exemplifies the confusion around the value of this upgrade for some users.

Just to set the record straight: We highlighted both the major upgrades (like Apple Silicon support, VST3, AAX, Linux, etc.) and the other minor tweaks. We're not mixing things up here. Big features are, well, big. The smaller ones are minor. Together, we genuinely think they're worth the update cost. Hope that clears things up!plexuss wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:18 pm This is disparate marketing. They are minor but they are also substantial... ???

Well of course you do, you are selling it. For me, the upgrade cost is not worth it. Sorry. But thanks.discoDSP wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:46 pmJust to set the record straight: We highlighted both the major upgrades (like Apple Silicon support, VST3, AAX, Linux, etc.) and the other minor tweaks. Totally understand, everyone values things differently. Appreciate you giving it a look and sharing your thoughts.

Of course! Corona is still a cool synth regardless of the previous or current version. I am running macoss os intel silicon but if I was running apple silicon I would definitely upgrade.discoDSP wrote: Tue Aug 08, 2023 9:28 pm Totally understand, everyone values things differently.
