Would you consider putting the source up on Github or something? There's enough love for these plugins & desire to see them updated that they could possibly turn into a Surge XT-esque open source project...

Oh, Mac people? You’re supposed to change them for each update that’s needed due to Apple breaking compatibility. They love paying a lot more for everything. Makes them feel cool and important, or else they’d just use Windows.Red_Force wrote: Mon Aug 07, 2023 7:38 pmSo about this.fceramic wrote: Tue Aug 01, 2023 8:52 am Looks like all their legacy products have been updated to support Monterey!?
Mac has killed us support wise. We should have stopped supporting those years ago. Support has been horrible because...
Catalina is released. Plugin still works, but installer won't. Now when you have a large catalog of old apps this is very bad news bc updating old stuff is costly, painful, and sales are too low to cover it.
So we wouldn't update it but some of you guys found a way to install it and I took on me to take the method and make it available officially. The "Catalina package", a fiddly manual install process that allowed many people to still get the Ohmicide they wanted etc.
Big Sur is released. Out of nowhere the UI are corrupted. We don't know what to do bc at the time there is a resistance to moving to Big Sur. Maybe Apple will fix it.
And they do! Next version, plugins work *again* but only if you have an Apple processor. Intel are screwed.
Can you see the nightmare of dealing with support on this? It's not like we have the size and scope to deal with having multiple MacOS setup to test them all.
Well, that's in good part why those products are now freely available - but also free of support. We value a lot longevity of audio gear, be it app or hardware. So it matters that you guys can still find it.
As for the new stuff, despite a disastrous image on kvr where a lot of early access of infinity (of which the process introduced bugs newcomers won't have) it just runs like normal plugins.
Shoot if you have issues because those are supported.

What an utterly idiotic thing to write. You must be fun at parties.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 5:44 amOh, Mac people? I'm pretty sure that was tongue in cheek (well maybe
)
It's my opinion that Apple are the most arrogant company on the planet though. Every OS change they do causes a huge headache to every single developer, and many smaller developers simply don't have the resources to keep up. This doesn't happen (at least not to the same extent) with Windows. For example I'm still using Camel Audio Alchemy from 2015 on my Windows machine that's had 3 major OS upgrades since Camel Audio ceased trading.
Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had any performance or stability issues on multiple PC's in 15+ years so have never felt the need to move over to a Mac. On the flip side I know that many other people love their Mac and would never change to Windows.
Apple will not change their ways until users and developers push back and refuse to use/develop software that 'breaks' every time Apple update their OS....so that will be never I'm afraid

Can you people interested in a Mac/windows debate please just get a room? Take it to pm or something? No one cares.

We don't make a new free Frohmager because we're leaving the business you knowmustgroove wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 5:38 am Would you consider putting the source up on Github or something? We did consider very strongly doing that for Ohm Studio though.

It's funny bc many of us remember reading those 20 years ago. It's not like needles are going to be moveddayjob wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 1:42 pm Can you people interested in a Mac/windows debate please just get a room? Take it to pm or something? No one cares.
Apple always had a policy to optimize for the present/future and force app devs to refresh or get out. It does produce an overall more streamlined, modern experience.
Windows has always been worried about retro compatibility.
Ain"t it good both options exist and anyone can pick? Just know what you're signing for ^^.

Sorry, as long as Mac users whine like children on a long car trip, they are open for mockery. They are using development time that could be being used for optimizing, improving, adding features, and maybe even not writing code for compatibility purposes and spending time with families or whatever. Developers might like to go outside sometimes.dayjob wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 1:42 pm Can you people interested in a Mac/windows debate please just get a room? Take it to pm or something? Imagine the wealthy people who own beach front property, who constantly complain about paying taxes and mostly don’t, asking for the tax money that you pay to provide anti erosion measures to protect their property. That’s Mac users. As soon as they shut up about their compatibility issues, I’ll stop mocking them for their self inflicted trauma.

Does it, though? I’d have agreed with you in the ‘90s and ‘00s, but today… I think they mostly just have a slicker looking UI and chassis.Red_Force wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 3:22 pmApple always had a policy to optimize for the present/future and force app devs to refresh or get out. Gotcha! I assumed giving away the legacy plugins meant they were deprecated or end of life, but hopefully not. I'd definitely pay for an Apple Silicon upgrade!Red_Force wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 3:19 pmWe don't make a new free Frohmager because we're leaving the business you knowmustgroove wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 5:38 am Would you consider putting the source up on Github or something? It is true that a responsible OS supplier should provide easy ways for developers to at least simply recompile their software for new versions of their OS with no or very few modifications (all the better if automatable). Apple isn't. And they deserve all the flak they get for this.

Page was inadvertently released. But it's better to publish the page when you can download the plugin.
