Mackie Mixer Channel Mute Not Working

I bought a Mackie ProFx 10 v3 new at a local store a few months ago. Everything seemed golden, but now when I have my Volca Sample playing a drum loop, and also have my Volca Keys playing a melody, then Mute the Volca Keys, I still hear it, unless I also Mute the Volca Sample. This happens no matter which channel I plug either instrument into. changing FX levels on the mixer, turning all the knobs on it down to zero and back again dosen't seem to have any effect. Any ideas?

I presume each of your Volcas is on its own channel on the mixer and not daisy-chained.
Does the channel fader still have any effect?
Check whether you haven't engaged the Solo function on the channels. This routes any channel pre-fader directly to monitoring outputs.

Hmmm. Only Mute buttons on this mixer, no Solo buttons I can see. Each instrument is going into it's own Line In port on the mixer, don't think daisy chaining is possible on this.BertKoor wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 5:55 pm I presume each of your Volcas is on its own channel on the mixer and not daisy-chained.

do you mean its always the keys that you can still hear if muted?Moe Shinola wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 2:25 pm I bought a Mackie ProFx 10 v3 new at a local store a few months ago. Yes. It's a new enough problem, I should probably test it with other synths. That Volca Keys has other issues. Someone fried the sequencer before I bought it used, so that dosen't work, and if I turn up the FX on the mixer on the channel where the Keys is, there's sound in the channel. Not noise, but a chord I can hear, so I just use the delay on the Volca.vurt wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:07 pmdo you mean its always the keys that you can still hear if muted?Moe Shinola wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 2:25 pm I bought a Mackie ProFx 10 v3 new at a local store a few months ago. Audio outs on the Volcas are stereo TRS minijack. Are you going from the headphone out into TRS balanced mono inputs, perhaps, and getting some weirdness because of that.

That sounds like an unavoidable result of how the inputs on the mixer are, but I could swear that before the other day, I could mute whatever channel I wanted and it would just cut out, with no issues.whyterabbyt wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:21 pm Audio outs on the Volcas are stereo TRS minijack. so muting the sampler first, removes all sound?Moe Shinola wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:30 pmNope, both sounds are muted.vurt wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:20 pm what if you mute the drums first? do you hear that till you mute the keys?
are you sure, the sample isnt "drums and keys melody"?
can you try it with two completely different things?

Sounds like you summed two channels into a mono input turned up the volume and blew the mixer to hell.

maybe, but im not sure why you're not running a 3.5mm->1/4" splitter into a stereo pair, isnt that what 5/6 and 7/8 are?Moe Shinola wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:32 pmThat sounds like an unavoidable result of how the inputs on the mixer arewhyterabbyt wrote: Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:21 pm Audio outs on the Volcas are stereo TRS minijack. ( actually, from the screenshots, that mixer looks like it actually also has a stereo pair (9/10) that's a 3.5mm stereo input...)
