I am usually very restrained in my buying. But the combination of synths and special deals recently has sent my addiction into overdrive. I have only bought stuff I was very impressed with and really liked, but even so, I cant say I need my recent buys. They have been buys based purely on desire rather than any real musical need.
So I make this promise on here with all you as witnesses.
I will not buy another new VST for another 6 months at least! The only possible exception being if special offers of below 40% cost are available and it does a substantial amount of functions I dont have at present.
If I break this promise I will have to carry out a forfeit. I will have to perform updated trance versions of 2 Unlimited's greatest hits in front of a crowd of at least 100 people, and look like i'm loving every minute of it, for 30 minutes or more.
I here by agree to this contract and promise to abide by its terms.
Signed 90909 21st december 2004
PS feel free to add your own restraining contracts to ween yourself off the buying.

good luck!
after buying komplete2 back in the spring, I said that was it for the year.
since then, I've bought cameleon, kubik, wusik, got in on the zebra pc (
but the temptation with all these buys going 'round
is almost too much to bear.

I resolve not to buy any more synths or sample sets this year.

Oops... did you say ears? My mistake.
Also: Thank y'all for the groans. I sometimes tell puns taken from other people -- Stolen Groans, you might say -- but that one was original with me. :-)

The only new synth I'm really looking forward to is the Minimonster. So I have no problems becuase that thing probably wont be out for another year.
Other than that I'm really trying to slim down my system. So I wont be buying anything new for a long while. Updates are allowed for me tho, for example Battery2
. I'm hoping Tracktion2 and Kontakt2 dont come out at the same time because I'm definitely updating those.

90909!!! Stop!!! Think what you're doing before you go ahead with this!!!
If you fail to continue your spending habits, YOUR MUSIC WILL SUFFER. It is a well-documented fact that buying new VST/i's creates a chemical situation in the human brain which stimulates creativity and talent. In one study, it was shown that spending $200 on a new Arturia softsynth had the same impact on a musician's abilities as spending 20hrs practicing and otherwise honing his craft. This is why the biggest bands with the best finances always create the best music. I think Kylie Minogue (sp?) illustrates this point quite well.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T DO IT!!!

MORE IS MORE!!! no more of this less is more rubbish, I will be duped no longer.
Got to buy all the group buys and Komplete 2, then I to, will be able to compose timeless classics like Kylie!!
But how will I possibly get out of the Trance 2 Unlimited forfeit????..... What am I thinking, with all the new goodies it will sound awesome anyway, so no need to be embarressed!

It's easy.
All you gotta do is have a 13 month old daughter, a nagging fiancee a looming wedding, an exorbitant rent, a 90 minute commute each way to work, and be in the process of saving to buy a house....
