This is most certainly correct and I'm sorry to admit but so many of these "Beatmakers" as they call themselves are pretty inexperienced and make me take FL Studio less seriously. The DAW caters strongly towards EDM/Hip Hop guys and lets face it, those styles of music largely appease younger and inexperienced bedroom producers living at home.

I love the wisdom and expertise of film composers who've undoubtedly got decades of experience under their cap and use DAWs like Studio One/Logic etc. I'll take the film crowd way more seriously than I will the EDM/Hip Hop guys who're just edgy memer teeny boppers.

That may sound rude, I'm just saying that people who use Logic/Studio One generally seem to be older and a lot of the film score guys received a formal education or studied harmony/composition - As such, their creative works are much more mature. The "Beatmakers" and "Dubstep Kiddies" just reek of inexperience.

seems a weird thing to even pay attention to, unless you are looking to collaborate maybe.

one day, we will reach a point, where some folk, will only listen to music, produced in their host of choice!
all their friends will use the same host and have the same haircut too.

this is the world you want!!
I think it's more about being able to find resources about that DAW than it is about using the most popular thing. Especially if you are new to making music with DAW. Ableton, FLStudio, and Logic probably have the most resources, tutorials, forums discussions, etc than any other DAW out there. When you are starting out you don't realize yet that the app doesn't really matter that much. As long as it's not completely devoid of features, you can get the results you want out of pretty much any major DAW at this point.

I went to a producers feedback group once and they had no clue what Studio One was. It was all Logic, Ableton and FLStudio in there. They couldn't even fathom that I would use something else.

Benn Jordan a working film, tv, and commercial composer doesn't seem to have any issues with FLStudio. As for the rest you might as well tell them kids to get off your lawn.

thanks. that actually seems more reasonable.
it's just the arguments i see (not so much this thread, not enough pages) people (some) can get a bit tribal about it :hihi:

Spot on. There are different ways of working in different programs, and the emphasis is different in each, but all are superbly well equipped these days.

As always in these type of threads (for whatever program), seems like there's a lot of 'poor workmen blaming their tools' going on, rather than people being creative and problem solving.

It's THE privilege of the youth to revolt and do things the 'old farts' do not like.

Thanks to this freedom the world met - among others - Chuck Berry, Elvis, The Beatles, Punk, Rap/HipHop, TB-303s, ... :)

doesn't sound rude, but it does sound ignorant and clueless.

The last time I used a playlist was with Octamed Sound Studio on an Amiga during the 1990s. In any case, I never did get in well with Frutyloops when I explored how to create music with it simply and easily back in the year 2000. So I opted Reason 1.0 as my DAW. I was never impressed with the lack of a step sequencer which it still doesn't have in 2023 which is laughable. I had to find my way around it by using an arpeggiator on my synthesizer keyboard. But honestly, if a DAW gets in the way of you creating music (there is irony in that I know), it's simply easier to find one that does work for you. Try Studio One, it could be the best DAW you've ever used, if not try another.

How do you think I feel? 50 odd year old Indie rokk songwriter using teh frootyloops? I'm just (as I believe the vernacular to be..), 'down wit t'yoot' innit.

The only thing you can do with FL Studio is create a load of fart noises and blips and bleeps. It's a toy for braindead children. There summarized it for you..

Ahh, apologies!

Surely it always had that one right from the start, with the red lines?
