How to make that sound...

I would like to recreate this sound effect that first occurs at 0m33s

I'm guessing it's an EMS Synthi but don't know for sure. Also what would a good choice of reverb for this watery sound?

You mean the pad in the background? Not the laser chirpy sounds?

No I'm mean the laser chirpy sounds.

I know he's used a Juno (106?) on a fair bit of his work.

I assumed the paddish sound came from his heavily effected guitar.

I think I've heard sounds like this in old school Hong Kong martial arts films.

I fooled around with Serum, with two oscillators, one a sine, the other a pulse pitched down an octave, modulating the global pitch to go up tons with an envelope or LFO/MSEG. In addition, you might also try another LFO free running on pitch at a tiny amount, very fast. Damp with low-pass filter that you could automate with envelope. Getting the reverb/delay is important, and maybe a convolution reverb would come in handy (Trash 2?). Ring mod or comb filter might add something to the timbre, and you could mess around with the oscillator wave forms. I imagine the artist automated the pitch in his/her DAW, or maybe even did some of it with a pitch wheel.

Not much help--just brainstorming.

Looks like you accidentally replied on a wrong thread.
It should be here:

Thanks for listening.
I'll try to explain here the main points of that Massive X preset.

Two sine oscillators octave apart, like in your Vital preset.
Both sines are phase modulated (PM) by a pitched-down pink noise, brown noise might also work. The PM amount is modulated by a fast decaying envelope (ENV2) to get more noise at attack.
The oscs are routed through steep bandpass filter to get a lo-fi/old-radio character.

A sine LFO1 modulates pitch of both sine oscs. A plucky ENV3 modulates the LFO1 rate and another plucky ENV4 modulates LFO1 level. That produces the chirpy bending pitch at attack. ENV3 and ENV4 levels are controlled by MIDI velocity to get nice variation of pitch bends when playing different velocities.

The osc pitches are also modulated a bit by a slow LFO2 with triangle shape to get that slow out-of-tune drifting.
