Nice! I got infernal 1.3 to be recognized in cantabile and it shows up UI, too. 1.3 fixes the intrument-only thing, so, i guess that was the problem.

@NeuKatalYst
<< have there been any updates since then, following all the discussion
Just released 1.3 preview, see https://sjoerdvankreel.github.io/infernal-synth/. But i don't know if you are allowed to use it for the OSC. Asked KVR, waiting for their response. So, if you want to be on the safe side, stick to 1.2. It does have some nice updates following all the feedback from here. This is the changelog:
August 12, 2023 - V1.3 preview.
Implemented some feedback from KVR OSC #174.
V1.3 should be backwards compatible with V1.2, but NOT with v1.2-Instrument only.
Renoise users: parameter order changed and this will break automation.
See https://forum.renoise.com/t/saved-autom ... id/68461/2.
* New stuff:
- Free-running random lfos.
- Right-click knob allows exact-edit.
- UI Size/Theme/Last directory are now shared across plugin instances.
- New oscillator param: pitch bend semitones.
- New modulation target: oscillator pitch.
- New modulation sources: midi mod wheel, channel volume, channel pressure, pitch wheel.
Default "clear" and "init" patches now set up midi PB and midi CP to sensible defaults.
* Fixes:
- Host no longer steals keyboard focus from load/save dialog.
- Split fx/instrument to different binaries as some hosts have problems with both in 1 dll.
* Changes:
- Oscillator cents changed from +/-50 to +/- 100.
- Renamed dialog/filebox in theme (only interesting for custom themes).
- Filtered N/A targets from modulation targets (i.e. fx1 filter freq is disabled when fx1 is a wave shaper.)

1.3 scans on S1 (progress!) and gets to open a window for the interface, but the interface is a black rectangle. Not sure I can do more for debugging on my side.
EDIT: Just realized it does display the GUI, but on pixel 0.0 of the screen (behind the maximized window of the host) instead of inside the vst floating window.
SOLVED: when choosing a new UI size, like 'large' it appears inside the right window.
So with this, S1 seems to be workable... let me keep going in case some other problem appears.
UPDATE: as soon as you toggle the vst window visibility (F12) it goes back to the incorrect behavior (position 0.0 on screen, not taking mouse input). So it works in a 'do not touch' way

Is this reaper ? Should work ok, which version ?

I don't own a copy of S1 so there's not much I can do. But good to know 1.3 does "something" at least.

I just tested the version 1.3 in Reaper and it works fine for me. The new features are really good especially for creating FX-sounds.

@Frank Geppert
thanks. Just be advised, i still haven't got the green light from kvr, so i dont know if you can use 1.3 for the OSC.

I have a vague recollection of other synths in the past having multiple releases in a month and it was up to the participants whether they wanted to upgrade or not...sjoerdvankreel wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 7:13 pm @Frank Geppert

(Sorry DoctorBob and others who would have liked to use the pitchbend etc. but have already submitted)

@RichardSemper
<< No probs with using the update.
Great!, thanks.
@ doctorbob << Variable slopes for the HPF please
and
@ MadMcMan << Chris from airwindows as a bunch of filters
Are you referring to the XYZ filters? They sound great, but I don't "get" them. X has a "nuke" control, Y has not 1 but 2 (!) resonance parameters and Z has a continuous "poles" control. Which i assume affects slope, but i always thought 1 pole = 6db, 2 poles = 12db etc with no room for interpolation.
[EDIT] well, maybe it's about time i pick up some books on the subject.

I found an odd bug when messing around with the sampling rate on my MOTU M4. A pluck sound I programmed myself sounds more nasal at 96khz compared to 48khz. So I can only render the file at 48khz if I want the track to sound the way I intended it. I can send the Bitwig project file if you like.

I take it this is the karplus-strong generator? If so, im not surprised. That one relies heavily on a random generator. Probably the same problem occurs for the noise osci and the random lfo. I never bothered to draw random samples relative to the project sample rate, so, if you change it, you really get a different sound. Might (!) be easy to fix for multiples of 48-96-192 etc. But then i also have to deal with 44.1 and stuff. I wonder how the big boys do it
In any case, please send over the file so i can confirm or deny that my gut feeling is correct.
