Certainly won’t happen any time soon, if ever.DamienC wrote: Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:14 pm I m hoping they will bring some QoL to their synth plugins soon enough.

I haven't tried PolyMax, so have no direct experience. I did watch a number of videos showing sounds and not once did I see someone using the BP or HP filters... only lowpass in the videos which I thought peculiar given how many sound examples there were across the videos (maybe only the LP was working upon initial release?).Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:38 pm The PolyMax filter sounds kind of bland to me personally.
So as far as I know, I have only heard the LP filter. What I heard of it sounded fine. I did hear a few times the resonance sounding shrill up around self oscillation. When I was looking at a few videos, I didn't come across one that showcased the filter, not that I looked hard for it.

Andy Cytomic is an absolute genius. To my ears he makes the best sounding plugins out of all the plugins. In the Galaxy at least. But boy I wish he had the facilities or the aspiration or whatever is needed to speed up the conveyor belt. That 1176, that semi-modular synth, they need to be ready yesterday. I want them so bad. I fear I’ll be in a swing chair vegetating away in the garden with a hearing aid by the time a beta is out. If I live long enough to even experience it, and I’m not even middle-aged yet. Apple will have updated their OS at least 50 times by then. They might even put the jack on the iPhone back and HDMI on their laptops. Logic will have had PDC implemented and ES2 updated to retina.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:38 pmThere are subjective aspects of filter DSP, "this sounds good" and objective aspects, "this behaves the same as the hardware circuit." When it comes to the former, hey, whatever floats your boat. Not everything needs to sound and behave like an analog filter. The PolyMax filter sounds kind of bland to me personally. When it comes to the latter, Andy and Urs are about the best in the world at that. Doesn't guarantee you'll like the sound of the filter though. Nothing will make BONES like a ladder filter with no bass compensation for example - no matter how accurate it is.audiouser720 wrote: Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:10 pm Is the filter in FilterscapeVA more world class than the the filter in PolyMax?
They are different type of filters, I know, but I want to know which one is more world class.
I’m not rushing the man. I’m Just saying. I have, I think, everything he has ever produced and would by anything in a heartbeat. I guess this pretty much makes me sound like a Cytomic fanboy. In a ‘World’ full of U-he fanboys.

audiouser720 are you also a VCV rack user? He's got a great SSM2040 out now:
https://library.vcvrack.com/?query=&bra ... =&license=
In addition to the Doepfer/WASP filter he previously coded for the platform:
https://library.vcvrack.com/Doepfer/A124
Might help you scratch that itch for a Cytomic modular/semi-modular.

I’m embarrassed to admit but I’m only a VCV user now because of his modules. I was on Blocks, but now I have some Cytomic in VCV. I can still control my outboard with CV like in BlocksFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Aug 16, 2023 7:23 pm audiouser720 are you also a VCV rack user? He's got a great SSM2040 out now:

On which soft synths the resonance doesn’t sound shill in your opinion?pdxindy wrote: Wed Aug 16, 2023 4:51 pmI haven't tried PolyMax, so have no direct experience. I don't think polymax sounds shrill on the LP filter, even at higher res. I absolutely think it sounds like hot garbage with high res on the bandpass though. The LP certainly sounds better at high/max res than something like UNO LX or Roland Cloud J60.

After Cytomic, Massive X and Reaktor Blocks have the best filters. I think they are better than PolyMax and Opal, the filter(s) that is. Don’t tell me those sound shrill.
I do agree with the UNO LX comparison.

I really like the sound of this synth. There's nice softness when the filter is down.
Just wish there was another lfo.

Don't know about Reaktor, but I think the PolyMax and Opal filters are right up there with the best of them.audiouser720 wrote: Fri Aug 18, 2023 6:16 am After Cytomic, Massive X and Reaktor Blocks have the best filters. I’d definitely use it more if it had a Prophet 5/6 style polymod feature, or even a small mod matrix where an oscillator was exposed as a mod source. Add polyphonic aftertouch and it would become one of my most used software synths for bread and butter type sounds.
