Why stick to an god awful design, and not instead improve on it?
- look like something taken from an early James Bond movie panel for missil launch or something
- knobs the size for lumber jacks
Like they improved on 2600, lot's of pretty lights blinking and stuff.
- much more pleasing to eyes than originals

Most likely, too fool the occasional person who thinks it's a real oberheim synth. Isn't that why they do these clones? Anyway, the original designs are fine even if copying them is dubious enough. Whenever Behringer adds or changes anything extra it is usually a poor design decision anyway (horrible looking sequencers on Poly D/Odyssey for example). They did okay on the Deepmind though.

Looks fine to me, but I don't plan on buying one so my opinion is worthless

More interested in the UB-X than the UB-Xa, myself. I'm fine with the look of it - a lot of very cool music was made with that thing back in the day. Something about it also vaguely reminds me of the really old TARDIS console from Doctor Who that was designed to look good on black and white television. If I'm disappointed by anything, it's that it looks like they probably didn't implement the SEM filter as a multi-mode (obviously the original was 2-pole lowpass only, but multi-mode would've greatly enhanced the sonic palette). Still, a 16-voice, bi-timbral version of the OB-X for less than 1/10th of what originals are going for now would be just fine, provided they get decently in the ballpark sound-wise.

I'm interested in both, however, add the cost of both and I could probably get an OB-X8! There is a good comparison between them in this video, but I honestly like the OB-X slightly more.

That should make for an interesting Monday. I haven't really been following this release. Has a street price been announced yet?

I dunno, the audio didn't sound like an OBXa, might be the Moog Source clone

I found an article from six years ago and it seemed clones they were working on at the time that haven’t yet been released are the OB-XA, OB-XA desktop and Synthi. To me that audio didn’t yell Synthi.

They have supposedly been for a year, but I edited my post as I meant to put OB-XA desktop

I also heard they're making desktop versions of both OB-Xa and OB-X. Bit of a shame there isn't a simple switch to change from one filter to another like on the OB-X8, but I guess there's reasons.

They were probably thinking, if it had that little switch, you probably wouldn't buy two of them!egbert101 wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 11:36 am I also heard they're making desktop versions of both OB-Xa and OB-X.
