What do you guys think about The House of Kush (Kush Audio) plug-ins?
I was thinking of giving the $9.99 subscription a go. I recently overhauled my whole ITB setup. Uninstalled all the extra DAWs I was using for random projects (Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig), and now I've settled on FL Studio (for now). I sold all my third-party plugins as well (I didn't really vibe with them, not that they weren't good). I don't want to drop hundreds of dollars on plugins at the moment, so I was thinking of giving a $10 subscription a go. I am interested in Kush plugins but haven't heard a lot about them around here. So, anyone using those, feel free to chime in. I will demo them eventually, however, wanted to get a review.
Any other alternatives, feel free to recommend. Try to keep the subscription fees as low as possible. All I need is a good compressor and a good saturation plugin, other plugins that come along are a happy welcome, but not essential.
Also, has anyone tried SSL Blitzer?

Definitely up there with the best plugin developers. I honestly prefer other plugins, though. Not that Kush are bad.
Currently using trackcomp2 and MDWDRC2 for compression, and for saturation I'm using Acustica's Jam. Definitely try out different plugins for saturation as there are so many different options; never a bad thing to have so many different 'colors' at your disposal.

Kush has their new Silica compressor which sounds nice, somewhat similar to NI Supercharger GT.
Depending on the type of compression you're searching for, this is tube simulating kind of compressor, soft with a nice saturation.
Try the NI Supercharger GT.

I'd love to have the DMG Audio Trackcomp2, but I do not wish to spend that much right now, which I why I was leaning towards subscriptions. As for the MDWDRC2, I will never spend that much money for a dynamic processor, no matter how rich I get, lol.Erik_Lucas wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:39 am Definitely up there with the best plugin developers. Interesting, the Supercharger GT is on sale for $25 right now. Although, I'm looking for a compressor that could be used for all my compression needs, not just specific tube compression. Actually, previously suggested Trackcomp2 was what I thought of at first, but it's out of budget right now. Maybe someday.roman.i wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:52 am Kush has their new Silica compressor which sounds nice, somewhat similar to NI Supercharger GT.

Novatron is a really capable compressor that is really flexible and covers a wide range of tasks, plus you really can't go wrong with all the different saturation options so sounds like the sub could work really well for you. I would recommend subbing for a month then you can see how well they work for you

I can tell you (and this is a highly subjective opinion) that at some point I had more than a 300 FX plugin. Version compressors, NI, U-He, UAD, Klanghelm, Softube, etc. If you asked me which one would I keep and which one sounded best and had -"that" sound then it's the Kush. I like their saturation algorithms, their preamps, and their way of making compressor action.
Silika is a unique compressor that can do things Glue from Cytomic can't (but purchase Glue from Cytomic if you can - it's worth it). Novatron as well is something amazing on its own.
So my opinion is that Kush is amazing top-notch stuff.

I'm on Windows. I'll check it out, thanks!roman.i wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 10:08 am If you're not on M1, try the Manic compressor. This one goes usually for $29 on sale, and has multiple styles.
Yeah, they do have a lot of options. I think they offer a trial/demo as well. So I might just install them and see how they work for me.Havok wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 10:11 am Novatron is a really capable compressor that is really flexible and covers a wide range of tasks, plus you really can't go wrong with all the different saturation options so sounds like the sub could work really well for you. That's great man. I was in a similar situation and decided to get rid of a million plugins. I have wasted so much money, and more importantly precious time, on plugins, that it has affected my output as an artist, it sucks. Anyways, glad I realized and decided to do something about it.kmonkey wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 10:29 am I can tell you (and this is a highly subjective opinion) that at some point I had more than a 300 FX plugin. Actually, I don't think I need the Cytomic Glue, as I have the official SSL Bus Compressor 2. Although, I have heard good things about Glue. I also have the Waves DBX 160 and the H-Comp. I'm mostly just looking for a different flavor of compression and some saturation. Thanks for the input on Kush plugins, glad to hear that, will definitely check them out. I can even purchase them if I like them, they seem to have good transformers/saturators for $29. Cheers

If you dont have a large collection of emulations already, they will surely cover a lot of territory.

I actually got rid of a ton of IK Multimedia emulations (didn't vibe with me) and canceled my UAD Spark subscription because of their licensing system. Now I just own the SSL Bus Compressor 2 (which is awesome and works without any issues), Waves DBX 160 for emulations. That's all.El°HYM wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:03 pm If you dont have a large collection of emulations already, they will surely cover a lot of territory.
I might consider some more SSL Plug-ins when they have a sale going on.

Kush plugins are fantastic with one caveat, virtually no Mac M1 native versions yet.

I have something from them… I got it free or something… it was a while ago. I can’t remember the details. It seemed good, but I never used it much. Unlike you, I vibe with IK’s stuff. Straight forward, sounds good.

I do testing for them, so I may be a bit biased in that regard (or perhaps just extra well informed
), but I LOVE the Kush plugins. They have great vibe and character. These are plugins that saturate and distort beautifully - except for the cleaner ones like Clariphonic for example. My personal favorites are: Omega TWK (use this as a soft clipper), Silika, AR-1, Novatron (wildly versatile but very easy to use), Blyss and Axis (note: this is one dark EQ with a HF roll off by default but it works great when you want to darken things up and the saturation sounds awesome). One of my absolute favorite developers.

Fair enough they have added quite a few. They are still in beta though, they seem to be making progress.zvenx wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 1:20 pm Actually quite a few of them have been in apple silicon native public beta for a awhile. Some as much as a few months.
