Can't run rapidcomposer after new motherboard

I installed a new motherboard which has the same Realtek sound chip as I had before but has a different name for the output port, which is what Rapid Composer is configured for. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Rapid Composer and the sound chip driver, tried rebooting in safe mode. RC always comes up looking for the invalid device and immediately dies.

Sorry for the late reply, I hope this issue has been solved.
When this happens you can hold the Alt key while RapidComposer is being started, and keep it held down until you see a message. Then you can set any audio device.

This is described in the user guide (Troubleshooting - Starting RapidComposer without audio)

The issue was not solved. Your response (6 weeks after my post) didn't help much either. I re-read the doc, it's ambiguous about whether the ALT key should be held down when you start the app, or maybe later. If you follow the instructions in the header line , in bold print, and hold down the key when starting the app, you get a Windows properties window which provides no solution. If you ignore that line in the doc, and assume the next line under the header means "start the application and then sometime later hold down the ALT key", you still get an app that dies immediately. On the other hand, if you do this about 10 times you find a magic moment (about .3 seconds after starting the app) when the application actually starts up with the "no audio device" message, which you can then change.
I dove into this again because I got the email about upgrading to v5. I have to admit my enthusiasm about doing that has been reduced by the difficulty in getting support for the app.

Yes, the Alt key must be pressed immediately after double-clicking on the .exe file, obviously. I'll try to find a better solution, but if the program starts quickly on modern hardware, and audio is initialized during startup, there is indeed not much time for pressing the key.

If you have any issues or questions, you get an immediate reply if you send me an e-mail, or use the contact form. The forum is not for urgent issues as I do not read it every day.

Thanks,
Attila
