TL;DW: Creature is a soft slew saturator, a new class of noisechanger.
Creature.zip(500k)
So here's something new: didn't exist before, even I didn't have it.
Creature is a soft slew saturator. It's a way of working with applying a sin() function to slew clipping. In fact it applies an unbounded sin() function, so it might be technically considered a slew wavefolder? Because that's what everybody needed, was a slew wavefolder. How useful, nerdy, and pointless.
Not so much. Listen to this little monster.
Creature is up to 32 (or more, at high sample rates) soft slew saturators, stacked up like the poles of a filter. It acts like a distortion, except it's not a distortion. It acts like a filter, but it's even less of a filter. Its interaction with sample rate is really strange (has to scale up with the square root of the sample rate multiplier!)
And what Creature really does, is roar.
As you keep adding Depth, the gain and the thunder increase unreasonably. The total force on tap is pretty ridiculous, and it keeps getting harder to control as you turn it up. There's an Inv control that can give you a really interesting cancellation that acts like a highpass-ish, but not like any highpass you've ever heard. Using it in phase, in Wet mode, unleashes a monstrous overdrive with humongous bass that refuses to lose weight even at impossibly high gains (real interesting on drum rooms!)
There is no overdrive. There is no EQ. There is no highpass.
It's just Creature, which is very much its own beast. It's also a very, very simple algorithm (isn't that so often the way?) so especially at low Depth settings, all this monstrousness can be yours for almost no CPU. I'll be finding ways to put this to use, but as always, you've got it fresh from the plugin forges. Be careful, and have fun with your new Creature.

I just had to test it with E-Bass.
That was quite interesting ! This has there lots of potential.
"potential" means in my case: i was not 100 satisfied with the Bass sound.* ( was slightly to boomy)
But i would suspect that was just a thing of a lack of time, respectivly more precise adjustments.
Plus otherwise, just a thing of invested time to figure out more and different great uses.
What i figured out. My incoming bass was quite noisy, and "creature" worked also like a noisegate or noisesupression. In fact stunningly good.
* The Bass sound was great. Just something left to tame it down with an EQ or so.......or more precise settings.
I´d prefer what i got out of creature over what i got out in past patches with Bass Amp clones. It really has something to it.
Overall is my comparison here vs. my "normal" Bass sound, which is based on a very nice tube based pre-amp setup (real tubes).
Plugins could not convince me so far. This one really has something to it.
What i also did:
i patched two creatures in series.
I kept the first one in same settings, pumping up the bass, and used a second one behind it, but with a inverted mix setting. (and slightly different settings otherwise)
This gave then a quite clear Sound, the bass now out. Yet i did not feel like lacking in Bass. It was a nice sound.
This thing is wild.
probably timeconsuming to get out perfect settings.
long speech short: definitly worth a test go !
i could imagine, what would help alots with this one vs. the users,
if we had two additional controls vs. each of the top two parameters.
Range settings that is.
So we could set a min and a max value, but so, that afterwards the faders stroke would still remain 100% in total lenght. But just controlling the inbetween value of the min and max value. Same for a midi mapping.
Now that would be a nice addition to it ! ...to make it more "accessible".
Much thanks for "creature" ! i´ll have to give it some more time

The one right up at the top is just Creature in all formats, but when there are updates you always go to the big collections because the 'initial release' with just the plugin, stays how it was when it came out
