First unit I got now is a Boss RC-5 pedal with 3.5mm type din connectors.
I thought it was obvious this would include
- short adapter cable to get a femail din at end
- one for IN and one for OUT.

But no, this is optional and worst is what is available is only with mail DIN MIDI which means you need loads of diffferent lengths of this type too?

What I look for a just 10cm adapter with femail DIN MIDI to use any midi cables various lengths I already have.
- I failed to find any
- they are all mail din connector
- and prices are rediculous on top of that, $15 for 30 cm

I guess I have to make this myself and figure out pinout on unit, unless there is any company that is thinking like I do and make these.
- just a short adapter like is common for headphones from 3.5mm to 6.3mm.

Thanks for any input.

i have several of those that did come with purchases, but im sure you can buy them.
make sure you get the right ones though, there's two different types, where the trs end is wired different.

Thanks, yes I saw that Arturia and Korg were different classes in how they are pinned.

3.5mm TRS is pretty standard, but not a DIN standard.

Regarding the pinout:

What can help you is not search for "mail/femail" but for "male/female".
I found the adapter you want for less than €5, but excluding shipping costs.

Thanks, I am relieved, will probably find it.
I found links before to thomann.de which had two brands, and they were both mail din.
- so got a skewed view

3.5mm TRS->5pin DIN cables would be male DIN because MIDI cables are male DIN, what with MIDI devices with 5-pin DIN all being female DIN.

3.5mm TRS->5pin DIN adapters would be female DIN because MIDI cables are male DIN, what with MIDI devices with 5-pin DIN all being female DIN.

adapters would be rather short, used in conjunction with a cable of appropriate length
cables would be expected to not be very short, since they're the actual cable and would be expected to acquired at the right length required.

So far I found for Boss and Type A adapter
Morningstar FX and their controller have as accessory, femail din. www.tgt11.com have them for $5.
Elektron CA-3 will also work, sweetwater.com have them for $9.

Start find the way here....

That's the point, I want to use the midi cables I have already at various lengths.
A short adapter at pedal is no problem, just making a femail din available.

So I bought the Elektron CA-3 from their shop, since they had better delivery options than others I find. Got a couple extra if I stumble on a pedal that wants this again.
