...at least for me, it's new in my hands. :ud:

Despite my old laptop having all the security patches applied ( and by that I mean duct tape in the broken plastic edges so dust and moisture don't get in ), it developed a problem where the on/off button works intermittently. Kind of annoying.

Also, I needed another extra computer for testing purposes.

I was doing a quick research, and I was astonished to see that, as of 2023, 8Gb of RAM is still kind of normal, and computer prices have gone WAY up.

So, instead of paying hundreds of euros for a new computer, I ended up buying a second hand Asus GL553VW for 200€. ( Intel i7 6700HQ, 16GB of RAM, can still upgrade it to 32GB, or perhaps 64GB, of DDR4 RAM ).

Disabled all the network devices, runs my USB soundcard at 128 samples without any glitch with Windows 10.

Surely in a new computer the graphics cards, screen, etc, will be better, but all I cared about for this purpose was CPU processing power and DPC latency.

But, I am sure a 2000€ computer would not be 10x faster ( I saw the benchmarks of several of these new processors and it seems that Moore's law is not that linear anymore ), and not a guarantee of not having DPC latency problems.

Too bad it does not have a PCI slot to run my EMU 1820M... :hihi:

Yeah, Moore's law isn't what it used to be. I'll easily drive my i7 8700k desktop for a few more years.
