Price seems a bit high indeed but will surely check this one out, as the loyal kazrog - customer who I am.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

I finally visited their website and had a listen to all the clips and vids. First impression was snake oil TBH. I won't write them off because obvs YT vids etc, the quality is limited at best and I suspect the nuance just doesn't get captured. So to give them a fair chance it needs a demo d/l. But most of the vids with the recordist or whoever wowing about the creamy analogueness and in-yer-face amazingness of it...I could barely hear any difference at all - mixes and instruments. Big compression, yeah I heard it - subtle compression, invisible. And if saturation is not heard then WTF is the point of it? (IMO lots of peeps are hoodwinked by saturation). Not wowed.
I'm no compressor fanatic, but I do hear the difference between decent hw comps and sw comps to the point I've gone back to using my hw comps for certain jobs. For bog standard jobs, any old sw comp does it for me, so maybe this plugin is just not for me - I'm not obsessive about compression. Just saying that some of those vids are more about presenters saying wow rather than actually showing amazing sound out of the expensive toy. And I find that expensive for such a toy. When you consider Valhalla sell reverbs that I happily use nowadays for $50 in lieu of an old Lexicon...Kazrog price is not anything to crow about. I hope I'm just being duped by shitty YT poor quality. Thing is, with synths etc even shitty YT can show differences. Admittedly trying to display an air band of Eq for 32KHz is kinda pointless when YT doesn't really go over 16KHz or whatever it's limited to...

I think I get crap from Kazrog every single day. Only because I got their free clipper a while back after loads of hype here about it. TBH the clipper just...clips
. It doesn't do anything amazing and the GUI is pretty bargain basement. Might even delete it as I don't actually use it. I'm starting to develop the feeling about Kazrog that hype is pretty well all they are.
I might still try this Avalon thing but not sure it's going to amaze me for the sake of even more future spamming I'll get from them...

It seems like swamped by overabundance (which is understandable. I am, too).kritikon wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:08 am I finally visited their website and had a listen to all the clips and vids. You don't HAVE to like the Av. , y'know... it's just a tool. another tool. there were gazillion tools before it, there will be gazillion tools after it.
having been around as much as you do, I noticed that over time judgement tends to become more and more biased towards things that aren't necessarily relevant (for example: the amount of marketing mail pisses me off therefore the next time I hear something my judgement is "coloured").kritikon wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:08 amI'm no compressor fanatic, but I do hear the difference between decent hw comps and sw comps to the point I've gone back to using my hw comps for certain jobs. Having been around as much as you have you SUREY know that we live in an commodity driven world (or, rather - ERA).kritikon wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:08 amJust saying that some of those vids are more about presenters saying wow rather than actually showing amazing sound out of the expensive toy. Other people's opinion becomes their source of income (either literally - ie. making money from it, or metaphorically - ie. being satisfied with the mare fact that other people actually listen to them... that their opinion "matters").
But it's their OPINION (and I don't give a flying F if it's your "Plain Wayne" opinion or some hot-shot mix tech. it's still an OPINION. which might - or might not - be relevant to one's personal mix situation).
If you don't like\don't WANT to like the KazAv - just leave it at that... and move on.
let other people enjoy their purchase (btw, I won't even demo it. not because I think Kaz is "hyped" - I love and use TI, TD, Kc3 and KcZ - but because I came to understand that all my REAL audio needs are/were met long long time ago... and I purchase new $hit just for the F. of it, trapped in this eternal vicious circle).

There is a YT video that compares the HW and the plugin and the at the end the conclusion is always the same to those who compares:
“It’s good but it’s different”
“The HW unit seems to have more warmth and depth”
In this case the plug-in seems to be a little brighter

I prefer a good software 1176 myself because they don't introduce a ton of noise into the signal like the hardware. YMMV.

This "Shane from Kazrog"-guy has a lot to tell. But why? Already bought their software ...
Well, you are right. For a plugin that is a free clipper, you should have also received a paid compressor and some money from them. Makes sense for a persona of such importance like yourself.kritikon wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:14 pm I think I get crap from Kazrog every single day. Especially after the fact that when you tested a clipper, Which is also described as a clipper and it should clip - you realized it only (in for a surprise) clips. I mean that alone has to be an embarrassment for a company right?

... what I've done. Too sad I now have to find information about possible updates elsewhere or by actively visiting their website which isn't an optimal user-experience nowadays.

Hey everyone,
Busy release week here, and the response to our new release in conjunction with Avalon has been amazing!
I thought I'd drop in to share some critical info:
We're currently investigating an issue with high oversampling rates in Avalon VT-747SP 1.0.0, which can cause a variety of unstable audio stream issues.
A fix is in the works, but in the mean time, we recommend that all users keep oversampling at 2x or 4x.
Sorry for any inconvenience, and a fix will be posted very soon!

Sorry for any annoyance here, but I thought I should clarify that marketing emails and update notification emails are actually two entirely separate lists. You can unsubscribe from the marketing list and still stay in the loop about updates for any products you own with us.elassi wrote: Mon Aug 21, 2023 3:13 pm... what I've done. I totally agree that it would be terrible if you had to opt in to marketing messages to get critical update info!

the top end on this eq is superbly silky, if this thing was a tad cheaper i wouldn't hesitate, i'm not saying it's not worth it, i'm sure the compressor would be handy also.
