Should I buy a DAW or use AI to make my music?

My question is: Did they scrape the internet like generative text and image AI models? I’ve read up on it but haven't found a clear yay or nay yet.
I think Google’s music AI was done with user submissions, but since AI is still the freakin Wild West, I’m sure someone somewhere has looked at SoundCloud and other sites and got Looney Tunes-style dollar signs in their eyes.

They can use any data they want available.... I am pretty sure there isn't any legal constraints.
Fun fact is in 2020 during covid I created a simple programming language (don't judge).
I could generate code with chatGPT in this language. That means that it used my github repo without any issue....

Idk, just seems like a d!ck move to take work that is to some their life’s work or passion without so much as a “f**k you!” lol.
[had a nice “cool story bro” all typed up but decided it’s off topic lol.]

Does AI use a DAW and VST instruments and effects and midi?
Are you saying that how it creates or generates music is a "black box"? The developers did not provide nor allow the AI to acquire a DAW or plugins. So the AI certainly does not have access to a DAW or VST's. I wonder how it organizes itself to generate or create music. It seems it will be aware of how we create music and the tools we use.Jac459 wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:30 am But to answer the question, no, it doesn't .... like for drawings, it compares final results in a large database and mix and regurgitate something....
Would be great to have an AI assistant that I can ask for help on how to do this or that. And the AIA would take over the mouse and keyboard and show me how to accomplish the task. This would be better than any manual and instructional video and will be on demand.
Then while the AIA has control of my PC studio I can ask it to generate or create a rhythmic dark ambient piece that is eight minutes long ... Since it used my DAW and plugins I can then edit it as I desired. My feeling is that his will be doable in this decade. But then AI may advance in such a way that what I am suggesting here will be of no consequence.

That's the principle of this kind of AI, it is essentially unsupervised learning.Kalamata Kid wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 6:13 amKalamata Kid wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 2:55 am Just wondering how Ai generates music.

On your remark to have assistance, I do think it will arrive. This is already there for software development with product like copilote for github.
These products are crazy crazy good. The feeling is that of working with someone reading your mind.
For music creation something similar could be created. But it would be dependant of the DAW I guess. A bit like izotope is already doing on mixing and mastering.

I wonder how it organizes itself to generate or create music.
It (ie a generative AIs) would be fed with a vast database of music as files, and builds a multi-thousand-dimension(*) model of analyses of the relationships between the patterns of data in those files. Then when asked to generate some new music, it'll generate some abstract noise and do lots of passes of noise reduction on that, until it achieves a result that fits somewhere within that model. Prompts that are provided direct it to particular subsets of the model.
(*) I saw a presentation the other day in which it was stated that Stable Diffusion relies on a 70,000-dimensional model, for example.
Absolutely not. Its not aware of anything. As with every previous iteration of 'AI' there is no actual intelligence. They are effectively resynthesising existing information based on the patterns of that information, but they dont actually understand the information, that's why they 'hallucinate'It seems it will be aware of how we create music and the tools we use.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucina ... elligence)
For an 'AI' to reproduce music by means of specific sequential steps withing given tools, rather than generating a direct result, then it would need to build a database derived from some source of the methods, not a source of music. That's not something that's out there, there isnt a library of 100,000 different 100% detailed descriptions of how someone made their tracks.
That, for example, is why ChatGPT generates useless recipes. It doesnt comprehend that boiling your pasta first then spending half an hour making your sauce, results in shitty soggy horrible pasta, or that half a pound of salt isnt sane. There's no cause and effect derived from the ingredients or steps, because the model isnt constructed from that kind of data.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

I find preparing slowly my very own iced cappuccino very therapeutic. I am barking when somebody does it for me
For cat litter, you are more looking at bio-technologies. Either trying to get a cat slightly smarter and able to do it itself (these f...g lazy bastards). Or more simply, engineer cats to not poopoo and pee anymore (that can work for a while but dirty explosions can happen).
