the question is :

on a MacBook (apple silicon) can I create an alias of each Kontakt library contained in the shared folder (the "shared" folder also if needed) and migrate all of these library in an external SSD , then move the original ones to trash, would it work...would Kontakt recognise the the new directory ?

Aliases are only useful for Finder and typically external applications don't recognize them. You won't get far with those.

You may be able to get by with symbolic links. Try with one and see. Then try with the drive disconnected and see if it hangs anything. Sometimes the hiccups happen when the external drive at the end of a link is not attached.

If you want to bypass the Terminal, you could try this service for Finder.

You may be better off uninstalling and then picking a place on your external drive to have the installation place the library. When I installed NI that’s how I did it.

That's the way I did it too with Kontakt. However some plugins look for their samples in a hard-coded non-configurable location on the primary drive, and I have been able to use symlinks to relocate those to an external drive.

thank you folks...
