I didn't find this preset in the factory library, is it from another source? (I have the latest factory library and version of Massive X installed.)zerocrossing wrote: Sat Jul 29, 2023 12:00 am So for fun, because I'm all about fun as everyone knows, I started going though the Massive X presets. Yeah, most are pretty dismal or at best interesting but not really usable. I did find one, though, called Blue Jupiter, that does a pretty good job of showing Massive X's more "analog" side.
A well-behaved signature.

Everyones brain is wired slightly differently, when I hear a big bass sine wave sound like that I think of DX7''s but yeah it could also be a modern Dave Smith Sequential analog too.ithurlsmagic wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 4:20 amIt's from the Rush expansion @4:52 in this videoJerGoertz wrote: Fri Aug 25, 2023 9:51 pmI didn't find this preset in the factory library, is it from another source? Massive X is pretty cool really, I think I need to spend some time with it.

Just recently, Massive (not Massive X) has gone on sale for $42. So, I downloaded the demo, just to see if there's anything I'm missing (I have Pigments, Zebra, Falcon, Phase Plant). The first thing I had to search for was how to enlarge the interface, cause it's almost unusable on a 4k monitor. Apparently, amazingly, unless I've missed something, it can't be done. So, never mind, Massive. I have too many useful synths to be bothered learning this new-old one while hurting my eyes.
Also, this thread has confirmed my feelings about NI, so, thanks for that everyone.

Massive was free for some group thing awhile back. Although the license is NFR once you install/authorize it. Many were giving their codes away and a few were selling theirs around $5-$10.
$42 seems like a rip off now.
FM8 has been on sale for $10 twice now. And Access is restricting which machines it will even install on. Which means using their old synths on less than a "new" OS keeps them in perpetual demo mode, while too small for anything new... and just not worth it at any price. Seems they're milking the last drops of revenue they can before making any official announcement and moving on to another chapter.

FM8 for $10 does not give me confidence in its longevity.BBFG# wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2023 12:07 am Massive was free for some group thing awhile back. Although the license is NFR once you install/authorize it. Many were giving their codes away and a few were selling theirs around $5-$10.

On one hand I'm surprised they made it vst3 if they are going to abandon it. On the other hand I'd be surprised if they update it to modern standards while they ditched Absynth, which was a legend, and much more unique than fm8.pdxindy wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2023 12:34 amFM8 for $10 does not give me confidence in its longevity.BBFG# wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2023 12:07 am Massive was free for some group thing awhile back. I don't think NI are brilliant, but my reasons for using Kontakt are more to do with the scale of the company. Too many times I've opened a project from 10 or 20 yrs ago in a DAW and found that - while the notes are all fine - none of the sound can ever be reconstructed, because the plugins used are either unavailable on modern machines, or the modern version of the plugin doesn't recognise settings from the older version, etc.
With Kontakt, the size of the company, and the size of the user-base, I'm confident that one way or another there'll be a way to open my Kontakt libraries in 2043, when I hope to still be noodling.
With other plugins, especially one made just for one sample library company, it's perfectly possible that in five or ten years time they'll have moved on and disappeared.

If you're on windows, you can upscale it with Magpie . I had all but given up on Massive til I stumbled upon that in another forum post here.SynthasaurusRex wrote: Sun Aug 27, 2023 11:27 pm Just recently, Massive (not Massive X) has gone on sale for $42. I think NI as a company and the current partnerships have a wonderful opportunity to do some amazing things. However, the single greatest thing these companies should do, is create an all in one work environment (DAW) that captures everyones technology concepts. Plugin Alliance integrated plugins, Izotopes technology, and Native Instruments sampling with Kontakt and Maschine integrated in the DAW. Each company can release expansions for the DAW, as so each company creates additional sources of revenue respective to their product lines. Creating a DAW helps to focus the direction each company presents, aligns their products, and helps to streamline users into working within an environment where they have access to everything. Too many DAW's, well....All DAW's thus far have kind of crappy stock plugins or features that users have to use 3rd party stuff. I think NI et al needs to focus, create a DAW, and forecast creating a useful environment for users.

i already have a DAW that capture's everyone's technology concepts. so do you. so does everyone here. that's precisely what plugins are for. do we really have enough of a demand for that particular wheel to be reinvented? I can already load Plugin Alliance and Izotope and Kontakt and all that into basically any DAW, and modulate them how i want, etc... so I'm wondering what actual benefits would be for the end user?vertibration wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2023 1:17 pm I think NI as a company and the current partnerships have a wonderful opportunity to do some amazing things. how is this different than any other DAW? i already have fifteen synths and three orchestras and a hundred compressors and a dozen sequencers, etc, each just a single click away, all in the same environment: my current DAW. it has already been that way for as long as i can remember ...it helps to streamline users into working within an environment where they have access to everything
you're describing plugins...?Each company can release expansions for the DAW
