The priority when developing something new is to get the machinery running, whatever it takes. Efficiency then plays no role.
So it's entirely possible in its current state this is a brutal cpu hog and you can't do anything about it.
If you want to try it in another host, do try Reaper. It is miles ahead all others regarding efficiency.
