These are on sale:
https://www.audiodeluxe.com/products/so ... collection
(I was going to just ask in the sale discussion thread, but I'll be cheeky and start a whole post here)
The Arturia FET-76 has become my go-to compressor... So I guess basically the question is: How do these stack up against the Arturia version?
Thanks.

If you are interested in a comparison, i tested different 1176 (UAD and Arturia too).
That's the test
So you can take a listen and have your own idea on which one sound better to you
That's the test

This is a highly subjective response. I tested pretty much all 1176 plugins out there. Yes, I own Arturia. And I preferred the UAD bundle for the sound. I think at $39 this is well worth it. If you force me to tell you what is the reason I prefer them without using shitty terms such as "warm, analog, blabla" it is this:
With UA compressors you are somehow always in a sweet spot. You almost can't make them sound bad and they somehow work best on source material as if they hold original material in the best way and control dynamic like a rubber band. Which is quite a subjective opinion but that's it.
My best advice would be - to try them on your own material (you can run a free fully functional Trial of UA plugins) and then decide. It is worth trying. And maybe you will find that Arturia works better for you and that is totally ok.

I have lots of uad plugins. Until the more recent 175/176 and the capitol mastering compressor, if you asked me which uad plugin I would grieve the most if I could no longer use uad for some reason, I would say this one, the 1176..
It is my go to for voice.
I paid way more for it of course, $39 for me would be the very definition of no brainer. (and yes I own lots of other 1176s software there include arturia, ikmultimedia, slate digital....)
my two cents.

Lol.. and you got a shove..
Curious to know what you think about them after a few days of use.
I have had UAD (via pci then pci-e) on my pc since 2005. Around 2007 I bought a macbook book that and used it mainly for pre production but it had no uad on it. In 2015 I bought a new macbook pro to replace the old one and I also used this one to work when I was traveling, there was still no uad on it. On one of those travels I used a native 1176 for some projects. My clients who were not musicians (ad agency) had them rejected by their client, who said they sounded different, not up to my usual standard. I knew what the difference was, but didn't tell them (I didn't have access to my uad stuff especially my 1176 which was and still is my go to vocal compressor, especially for voice overs.
I bought a uad satellite for that macbook pro a few days later, and substituted all the other 1176s used in those projects whilst traveling with the uad 1176's. The projects were then approved just on that simple switch.
Lesson Learned.
Never going without UAD again

These are still my go-to 1176 plugins despite have many variations of the FET compressor (including a hardware clone from Stam with A, D, and G revisions). I might use TrackComp just as much and also rate it highly, but the UAD 1176 Collection has the benefit of being easier to work with due to the hardware-like UI. The plugin versions are all much quieter than the hardware, so I appreciate that too!
Short version: at $39 this is an absolute steal. Jump on it.

I use both a lot and I truly feel the differences are more about workflow and GUI than any meaningful differences in sound/performance. TrackComp is excellent. Keep in mind, the UAD plugins are running at a higher rate internally so if you want to do a comparison to TrackComp, and you work at 44.1khz or 48khz, you'd probably want 4x OS to make the comparison fair.imrae wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2023 1:10 pm Any other thoughts on how they stack up against TrackComp? I don't mind the UI but am still getting to know the character and strong/weak points of those models.

I’m confused by this story.zvenx wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2023 12:32 pm I have had UAD (via pci then pci-e) on my pc since 2005 but didn't have one on my macbook pro till I bought a new macbook pro and used a native 1176 for some projects whilst I was traveling.
