Interesting. I ended up deleting it after deciding it sounded good but wasn't anything special enough to pay over $100 for (and, yes, I do pay for even more expensive plugins if I find them worth it). I'd hope the hardware is much better, and different, sounding. But, then, I didn't spend a week getting into the weeds with it, either, so perhaps I didn't unlock the magic dust.

If it falls to a more reasonable plugin price of $50 or less, I'll demo it again. Even if that takes a year to happen. No rush.

It may be my expectations were too high, given the hype of both the hardware and the plugin.

This thing can be really abused as a great and quirky saturator. It's not just for subtle mojo (though it really excels at that).

I haven’t tried it yet, but we suffer from an abundance of amazing saturators of all kinds. At some point, you have to just find a few good ones with enough versatility and just move on.

Is it 29$ yet?

Is there anything really new and groundbreaking in terms of saturation quality? Or just another flavour of good saturation?

That's sort of what I'm getting at. Once you can can basically mimic alias free distortion, you're starting to look at tone and dynamics. Different flavors. I'm a guitarist, and we're sort of compulsive about distortion. I've got more different variations than most, but the average player just gets by with what their amp and maybe a pedal or two can do, and all variations happen based on changing the settings.

Now, an engineer is going to want a lot more, but I think a lot can be done with a good representation of the major types.

Not really. It's just really good sounding and versatile. Probably very much like the hardware itself. So the same question applies to any hardware saturation boxes.

The plugin is however more capable than the hardware in that it provides a lot more possible colours and is more versatile to abuse due to the provided circuit bent settings.

I hope they add some C-mojo pieces in later updates, the hardware pieces are looking mighty interesting :o

Sounds really fat, did you just used the saturation modules or also the tone EQ ?

Post

I used everything the plugin has on offer, so EQ, heavy saturation etc. But what you hear in the audio example as difference is really just all Silver Bullet instances turned off. There was one instance per track (4 tracks in total) and one on the master.
