Out of curiosity, have you ever used all of that gear in the same piece of music?

If not, I think it would be a fun challenge to create something that did use all that gear. If it were me, I'd have to do that at least once. :)
No, I’ve definitely never used everything in one piece, but that could be a fun challenge. I’m usually a bit of a minimalist when it comes to my own music because they usually feature vocals, so I rarely have room in my mix for more than a dozen synth parts.

There are actually a few items I’ve never used in my music yet because I either took them on trade or bought them recently and haven’t gotten fully up to speed on them yet. I also plan to downsize a bit soon, so many of the less expensive gadgets are probably going to hit the classifieds.

Getting a good “nrrp” is really hard with my synths! I can get close with my Pro-3, but not quite there!

I like Minimalism also, but if I had that many hardware synths, I'd have to create some piece of music that used every one of them—even if many of the synths only appeared for a few notes, or maybe only appeared as a one-time sound effect. Plus, you could always send identical MIDI notes to two synths, panning one hard left and the other hard right for a stereo effect, maybe even add a third synth panned for the center. By using 2 or 3 synths to play a single part, you could use up a lot of hardware synths for just a handful of parts. You also wouldn't need any separate chorus effects with that approach. :hihi:

Assuming your piece includes drums, you could also use a different synth for each drum in your drumkit. That could also eat up a lot of synths in short order, especially if you actually use lots of different drums from your "multi-synth drumkit".

You could also use a different synth for each note of an arpeggio, or each note of a looped sequence. It would be sort of like the "round robins" sampler technique, but done on a battery of synths instead. :D

If you do decide to tackle this challenge, please let us know how it turns out! :)

My Taiga viewed through a magnifying usb lamp ... makes patching it a bit easier (for me).

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize there's little iPad and other little holders I could use to make more room for important things in my 5-desk setup. More recently I bought some little synth footies on Etsy:

The angle makes the little screens a hell of a lot easier to read while sitting. You can see the Nektar in the picture above at a very nice angle, awaiting being moved to it's new place once I figure out how to organize everything nicely.

That's what it looks like underneath. Just perfectly-angled triangles with little rubber textured footies underneath to prevent em from moving around. I quite like them. I got a discount code of 25% off for another set if someone wants it, which makes em like $18 which is cheap as hell.

I would genuinely pay someone to help me organize all this stuff into an optimal configuration and manage the 50-ish cables and wires better than I will end up doing myself lol

Post

Very nice! I've hired friends for studio reorganization projects and paid handsomely in pizza and tacos. It's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of when I'm stuck with a cable routing conundrum.

The nights are drawing in ... it's dark before 8pm

Must be nice. It’s dark by 7:00 pm here.

I'm hoping the longer nights will inspire me to get some current "projects" finished ...

My studio is such a mess. I'm planning a big reorganization but I have a few projects I need to finish first.
In the meantime, here is a shot of what I've been calling the Ouija board... it certainly sounds haunted. It's built onto a PedalTrain Classic 3 and everything is powered with a Cioks DC7.

Still demoing GForce OBX ... can't decide if I need (want) it or not ...

I caved
