Actually The Beatles used vsti's back in the day, beginning with "sgt. pepper's". They actually had the british government give them top secret vsti's which we never knew existed back then.

If you watch the new Duran Duran video you can see the Nick is using a korg microcontrol and a powerbook. Look closer and you will see that they ar3e sitting on top of a Fairlight CMI. He is pretending to be playing it... which do you think has more power?
