Putting the word 'Future' before a genre means the music is going to be shit.

I genuinely got excited by the terms future house and future garage. I thought it would be next level production ( secretly hoping of Hybrid in the 2000's sort of stuff ) and possibly a little experimental and original. But in actual fact they are none of those things.

Maybe i've been looking in the wrong places and will be corrected.

Is this the same future garage that peaked in 2010, or did it mean something else once it escaped the confines of London? Just cos it's a dinosaur in dance music terms at this point if so. I was quite into it at the time. Not because it was super futuristic or anything. Just cos I was quite up for a garage revival. It was a really fun time to be a DJ in the post-dubstep era just cos "post-dubstep" basically meant "pretty much anything at 140bpm" and all the future-garage malarkey slipped in perfectly.

Future house is new on me though. Listening now I'm not remotely surprised that one passed me by.

In the future we all sound like chipmunks... even more perfectly angelic than autotune!

Wait, is this the music that they played in the Buck Rogers TV show? That was dope.

Does this apply to the band The Future Sound of London (FSOL)?

They wanted to be The Future but became a Fossil (FOSL). :ud:

Who knows? Lifeforms was one of the best electronic music albums I ever bought.
But to be fair they were never going to top Hybrids 'Time Traveller Remix' of Papua Nu Guinea.
Speaking of which, somebody has updated the Who Sampled database and now everyone and their dog has remixed it.

You are 10 years ahead of me dude. I'm jumping ship to Garage as I'm so fed up with the incredibly slow BPMs and lack of groove in the Progressive genre these days.

Garage has always been great - be it 2 step, Speed Garage or the Dark Garage scene that is happening now. Main Phase and Bakey are worth checking out.

This is a great by the way.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m ... n-of-grime

I guess they are marketing terms. I just googled Future Bass sample packs and picked one at random and listened to the demo. There was no bass until half way through, just gated digital stabs and pads some of which were 'glitched'
