clicks when recording vocal

I have an EMU 1820m and a MXL V63, Octava MK319, and a 8 dollar nady dynamic mic, and everything is running fine on my comp.

The problem is that when I record vocal the positioning of my tongue on various words will create a clicking noise that is usually not heard until its picked up through any of the mics mentioned above. Now its barely noticeable on the Nady due to the fact the response in the high range is very limited. On the MXL it is the most noticeable.

I have recorded many instruments with the same setup and the sound is reproduced without any abnormal clicks. So I am pretty sure this not a problem with the equipment.

Do you have any suggestions on how to minimize these clicks. I have searched the net and found very little on this problem which may mean it has something to do with me and the way I sing/speak.

Thanks For Your Time

If the clicks are not caused by distrotion(being to loud in the mic), then its probably your speech.

Clicks: try recording at 24 bit and increasing the (L) word

Try turing down some of the gain on the 1820 mic input.

Get hold of a PLOP filter, something like this:

Or take a used pantyhose & wrap it around the mic

Thanks for the advice. I already have a pop filter. I think I am gong to take back the V63 and try out the Samson C03. Mybe I'll just keep trying different mics until I find one with the frequency response that fits me.

Thanks Again for the replies

The first mic is the $8 nady the second is the
MXL V63. I usually shut everything up on a serious record but you can tell this was a quicky.

I listned and it sounds like you are to close to the mic.

Try placing the pop filter 6 inches from the mic, if you can extended that far. Or just put some distance between you and the mic.

Ok I will try those suggestions and post results later today.

Thanks again for thehelp

Well I decided to take the V63 back (it was a 100 bucks with a shockmount) and try a new mic.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help
