Hi, i need a macro control vst effect with midi learn for The macro knobs. I ve tried bluecats patchwork vst but it only work as instrument and not as effect. But i need a vst that can be loaded as effect. I also tried "element vst" but it seems si not possible to control The macro knobs with midi because it doesnt have The "midi learn" option for The macro knobs.

Any idea which vst can i use?

i use "patchwork" as a FX plugin. I work in a plugin host, not a DAW.
But this will work also within a DAW in much similar ways.

Please provide more infos if you want to see specific help. Which DAW ?
...check all your settings, and RTFM. You will find your solution there i´d suspect.

edit: otherwise, there are two more plugins from Bluecat which work as a small plugin host. The Delay has definitly got the macro knobs too. I think the other is the multiband thing.

PatchWork definitely comes as both as an instrument and effect, in all plug-in formats (and even as a MIDI FX for audio units).

I would check Voltage2 before anything else

Hi , i'm using ableton live 11. What i need to do is to control a parameter of morph eq vst with midi cc messages sent with lfotool vst, but since morph eq parameters doesnt have midi learn I need to put morph eq vst inside a macro control vst that has midi learn in the macro knobs so in that way i can control a macro knob ( that control The morph eq vst parameter) with The midi cc messages comming from lfotool vst .

I been trying different options , Ive tried unify and it work fine. But The problem is that unify doesnt work as effect and only as instrument.

I also tried patchwork from bluecats but The macros knobs doesnt have the midilearn option.
I also tried element and mulab 9 . But they don't have The midilearn option either.

So if these 3 vst ( patchwork, element fx and mulab 9) doesnt have the midilearn option , is it possible that The macro knobs can receive midi cc messages?

If not , which macro knob vst do You recommend me that has midilearn?

It does have MIDI learn on all macro knobs. Make sure to click on the gear icon in the toolbar and select "show control settings":

You can then click on the green arrow that will appear under each control to see the MIDI learn option:

I hope this helps!

Thanks , yes now works but only for patchwork as instrument. If i use patchwork as effect and I click on midi learn in the macro knob nothing happens.. it only work as instrument. Any idea why is this?

When working with PatchWork as an FX you need to make sure you have an extra MIDI track that carries the events to the PatchWork effect.

The way i'm doing this is : in ableton live I have 2 midi tracks, one holding The patchwork vst effect and The other one holding The lfotool vst . I'm sending The midi cc messages from The track with lfotool vst to The midi track containing patchwork effect.

So, if I understood You correctly , do You mean creating a third midi track that receives the midi cc messages from lfotool vst and then send those messages to The midi track containing The patchwork effect?

I don't think Ableton will do anything with a VST effect on a MIDI track (you might need to place it on an audio track instead). You do not need an extra track, but instead of sending the events to the track, select the PatchWork effect as destination for MIDI events. Yes, MIDI routing is definitely awkward for plug-ins in most DAWs!

As far i understood , vst effects are not gonna receive midi cc messages if they are in a midi track , so i need to put My vst effect in an audio track in orden to receive The midi cc messages , right?

Ok , so now i have 2 tracks one midi track holding The lfotool vst that is sending The midi cc messages and another audio track with patchwork vst in it.

So , how can I select The Patchwork vst effect in my audio track as a destination for midi events? Wheres that option in ableton live 11?

Do anybody have an idea?

Route the midi from the LFO tool track to an Empty midi track.

Set the Empty midi track's input to the track with the LFO tool.

Set the output of the Empty midi track to the track with the Bluecat Patch Work and in the submenu select the Bluecat patchowrk channel.

Make sure that both the Empty midi track and Bluecat track are armed. The Empty midi track should pass midi from the lfo tool to the Patchwork device.

What do You mean with "armed"?

Armed=In record

So you're monitoring the input of each channel
