This is two bars of one then two bars of the other (the same midi) then two bars hihats only of one (not necessarily the same one) and then two bars hihat of the other.

I don't know which it is, but, they definitely sound different.zvenx wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:26 am I am sure if I spent more time matching them I could get closer.

But then, as you said, it's probably rather a matter of matching them more closely. Not meant as a criticism, just saying that, with more time, they could probably be matched more closely.
FWIW, drum synth 1 in the example reminds me more of the typical 909 sound than the second one.
Do I win a copy of Drumazon 2 now?

I have Drumazon 1 and while it is awesome one can not match BassDrum to sound not even remotely the same as Roland Cloud 909 BD. Under that, I mean the difference isn't subtle and no there are no settings or presets at which one sounds like the other. And no I am not speaking of overdriven BassDrum (which can be achieved in Roland Cloud - thru mixer options). Of course, this is great because everyone can pick up what they like and love.chk071 wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 10:46 am

Even in his example, BassDrum is different a lot. Tune depth and Tune decay are different in one and it's quite noticeable making it "thump" or "thud" (that gut feeling). I know the result so I will not say which one is which but I will say that I was able to pick a different brand.
This is not to say that D16 modeling is inferior, quite contrary, it could be just the case of different units. It would be absolutely awesome if D16 modeled two or three bass drums and then made a switch to select one you like the most.
But it's too early to say anything until we put our hands on a demo yaaaayy

I spent some more time trying to get them closer, and actually disabled all the eqs I had per sound in D16 (the effects per pad/sound is just crazy in drumazon 2) to make it a fairer comparison (I forgot to turn them off the previous upload).

Oh, stupid me. I didn't even notice that you already resolved what the drum synths were in your first example.
And, yep, the second example is much closer. Still a few differences, but, for me in the "I don't care" region. Actually, I preferred Drumazon 2 in that example.

Yeah I hesitated to post the 'answers'.
I prefer the Drumazon 2, like I mentioned the per pad/sound effects options on it are insane... the RC 909 is great if you want to sound exactly like some song that used a real 909, for all other 909-ish duties I would choose the Drumazon 2.

They both sound good but #2 sounds brighter, not sure I would say it's better, just a different tonezvenx wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 12:51 pm I spent some more time trying to get them closer, and actually disabled all the eqs I had per sound in D16 (the effects per pad/sound is just crazy in drumazon 2) to make it a fairer comparison (I forgot to turn them off the previous upload).

Drumazon's sequencing GUI is what drove me to Roland.
Perhaps I should head back?
I like upgrade paths.
Upgrade paths are good for blood circulation.

That's a good point. I HATED trying to program sequences on the original D16 drum instruments. No one wants that hardware experience sh*t when it comes to that.

Having both a System 8 and TR-8S, I can tell you, Roland has learned nothing with their silly nested menus, lack of decent display (or any display), and lack of intuitive easy to use programming.

I didn't like my system 1 internal synth so I use it as a midi controller with synths that support midi learn, I'm not a roland fan boy
