weird, the development stage, is usually much longer than 45 years in the male of the species...

that's a joke about men being big kids, not a joke at markus expense. expect of course that he is a man too.

I wish you can recover a good health not only physically but also spiritually. I have many of your synthsplugins and I use them as fits. Maybe as you keep finetuning them you will implement in future updates some newer stuff. God bless you.

Take care Markus, thanks for the support over the years and I hope you will find renewed energy and joy to take on other things!

i dont get how trolls on kvr can give someone health problems and why trolling would stop him from making new products. His call but doesn't make sense to me

Everything can cause health problems, if you identify with it or are angry against it.

I would not have survived my life as a lawyer, if I had identified with the problems of my clients. They divorce for example, not you, they kill, not you.
So as a developer of plugins: they complain, not you. And since I do not seek nothing from my fellow man, I live completly free from what they think.
Same in music, which I play for my own, not seeking any applause from anyone.

Take care Marcus, I will be purchasing some of your plugins soon I already have Icarus and Electra.

I'm gonna give the un-popular opinion here …I have never been more happy after my divorce I'm free to do what ever I want, go where ever I want, and do who ever I want you'll be fine after the rough patch make sure you have your boys who got ya back and life will be an adventure. :tu:

I hope you would license your filter models to other devs to use in their products, you make great filters. Heck license oscillator and distortion models too!

Yeah. Markus would do well working as a shadow-producer for some other developer.

I've been a fan of his work since the Vanguard days and have listened to his plugins improve year-over-year to where they sound utterly amazing, especially for the resources used. His designs are anything but humdrum and I'm pretty sure they are unique under the hood in execution.

Marcus, take a break from everything for a bit, then maybe you can add back the things which you truly enjoy and find better, sustainable, solutions for the things that are necessary, but you may not truly enjoy.

Alle die Beste!

(Yes, my German is awful...)
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

And of an era, Tone2 are up there wi to the best.

If he hasnt lost the joy of developing could always join another stable. Wouldnt be susrprised if he hasnt been head hunted by other brands of the years.

All the best Markus, farewell but not goodbye i hope x

Customers, in general, suck balls. As does upper management.

I made the decision years ago not to deal much with either. I don't have much say as a senior dev, but I also don't have to ass-kiss much or learn to throw my employees under buses and all the other things that execs excel at. I just work.

I dropped out of my teaching degree right near the end for two main reasons: the school administrations, and the f**king parents. I realized I don't have the gene that allows me to be shit on that much without snapping.

Good luck, and it sounds like you have realized what is important. Health and kids.

Sending you best wishes. Health and family first, always. I'm a very happy owner of Icarus. You're brought me much pleasure. All the best.

In certain ways, Tone2 has set the bar that others making similar claims have yet to reach, much less match or surpass.
I really enjoyed those links to reading the science behind your plugins. I hope your next inception of creativity reaches new heights and sets even more bars for others to aspire to.
I sold all my Tone2 plugins awhile back, but had nothing but great interactions with support.
Have downloaded the latest demo versions and remembering how much I always enjoyed them.
Gladiator was my favorite with Rayblaster being a close second.
I do want to support this developer as I can afford though.

All the best to you Markus.

Wish you all the best.
Had great experience with tone2 and hope there will be anytime some sales on soundset

This is very unfortunate but not surprising. What Markus was doing is probably too big a job to be done as a one-man band. The job requires (but is not limited to):

- specialized DSP/audio/synthesizer knowledge
- multi-platform development
- UI development
- keeping the existing product line compatible with current Apple/Windows updates
- customer support
- website development
- creating marketing materials including videos
- creating presets / expansion packs
- developing copy protection

Trying to do all of this single-handedly is a recipe for burnout. The more products you have, the harder the job becomes. This is more manageable with a team but given that profit margins are so thin, hiring and paying a talented team is no easy trick. It’s no wonder that many companies are being bought by VCs, larger players, or closing shop. :(
