Cash grab.
I get the feeling it makes sense to phase out NI & Izotope. PA was my alternative to Waves, but I think Softube & UA make more sense.

I'm confused by the comments here. Aren't there 4 new ICM Amps included in v7? Why are you guys saying there are no new amps?

$99 seems high when I just upgraded to Komplete Ultimate, but development time costs money. I think Guitar Rig 6 has an interesting sound, but I honestly don’t use it that often. For my purposes, Amplitube 5 is a lot better. For $50 it would be a no-brainer, but the truth is, none of the new models are all that interesting and I already have more than one could ever need. I’m going to pass on this one.

Competing with ToneX isn't going to be easy. What AMPS did they get right? Looks like a 65 Twin is in there.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 4:41 pm For my purposes, Amplitube 5 is a lot better. When 6 was announced, it was explained that there would be more ICM additions.Saukar30 wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 4:40 pm I'm confused by the comments here. Aren't there 4 new ICM Amps included in v7? Why are you guys saying there are no new amps?

But… Instead they’re now in GR7GUITAR RIG 6 PRO is out now with three brand new amps that have been modeled using ICM, but rather than that being the conclusion of the project, it’s merely the beginning of a new run of high quality emulations.
There are some nice features, but hard to see the value in something that looks like an annual cash grab.

With GR6 N.I. introduced their new ICM amp modelling technology (it does sound quite good), but there were only 2 or 3 amps included with it at the time. They said they would be releasing free updates with new ICM amps to GR6 owners. That was 3 years ago, and we have had 2 ICM amps added in that time, I doubt I would have upgraded to GR6 had I know this at the time.Saukar30 wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 4:40 pm I'm confused by the comments here. I get that there have been problems with covid and Ukraine war, but I don't think it's an excuse to short change existing customers. It's a loss of trust for me.

I don’t really care if Guitar Rig gets it “right,” as long as it’s interesting. I look to GR because it’s got a unique sound and lots of interesting options. Like you, I have accuracy covered.electro wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 4:44 pmCompeting with ToneX isn't going to be easy. What AMPS did they get right? I appreciate them adding more variety, but the upgrade price is the same for someone who owns Guitar Rig 6 as it is for someone who has Komplete Ultimate. That seems off. I probably would have done the upgrade without thinking if it was $50, but I’ll pass on it for now. Not because I don’t think it’s worth it, but because it’s not worth it to me.

Two amps and a fuzz pedal. Some companies charge you as much as $100 for a single model, and you got 3 for free. I’m unclear on why people feel that they are entitled to free models forever.Zipede wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:04 pmWith GR6 N.I. introduced their new ICM amp modelling technology (it does sound quite good), but there were only 2 or 3 amps included with it at the time. U hiding under a rock? It was NI that stated to their customers that they would be providing additional models for GR6 and never didzerocrossing wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:11 pmTwo amps and a fuzz pedal. Maybe because 2 amps and a fuzz box is a bit light considering the advertising they used at release of GR6 3 years ago.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:11 pmTwo amps and a fuzz pedal. "The future
GUITAR RIG 6 PRO is out now with three brand new amps that have been modeled using ICM, but rather than that being the conclusion of the project, it’s merely the beginning of a new run of high quality emulations.
“Since we don’t have to do all the calculating and tweaking ourselves, we can be measuring other amps and circuits while the neural network does its thing,” Fabian points out. “This means we can have so many more amps in the pipeline than we did before, which is the really exciting thing for users of GUITAR RIG 6 PRO.”"

Might as well hear it from yet one more… NI said it themselves, more would come and then… well, we all know the rest.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 5:11 pmTwo amps and a fuzz pedal. It’s not entitlement if the developer set the expectation and didn’t deliver.
