It would be great if one could select kick drums or snares or whatever of any drum kit in Avenger of any xp.
The only way to change a snare within a drum kit is importing a sample, Avenger has no sample folder of its drum kits, though.

Keilwerth got back to me. Apparently it will be fixed in the next version. It was a “hotfix” that seems to have gotten caught up waiting for a bigger update to finish.zvenx wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 12:14 amoneway wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 10:36 pm Playing any Arp patch will crash the M1 Komplete Kontrol in Logic Pro.
open a new empty song
add Komplete Kontrol
add VPS Avenger within NI Komplete Kontrol
choose an Arp patch, such as Synthwave II > AR BronBoy
play a note
This causes the host to report an incompatibility and shut down.
Sigh... this bug was reported to them internally a year or so ago.. it does it on intel mac too..
I thought surely they would have fixed it by now.

I hope we are not far from V2.

This suggestion lingered with me a little so I tested it in a current song. Using an instrument inside of Komplete Kontrol only seems to require an extra 3-4% of an individual thread. If you're having CPU issues with Avenger, Komplete Kontrol won't hurt or help.m-ac wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:11 pmI'd suggest not running avenger inside of komplete kontrol. Avenger runs badly enough on mac anyway, so adding in the komplete kontrol vst wrapper adds another 30% CPU strain which causes crashes etc. Sorry I can't offer any better news.
I agree that they never got it working well on the 2013-2019 Mac Pro Xeon CPUs, but then again they never claimed to have developed/tested it for Xeons. I've compared patches that were big problems on my Mac Pro 6,1 Xeon to my Mac Studio M1 Ultra and it runs them significantly better. Same goes for Kilohearts Phase Plant and other modular synths. Whatever Keilwerth is doing now works well on Apple Silicon as far as I can tell.

Really curious to see Avenger 2. Just rewatched the videos. Feature wise, it looks extremely impressive, even if not used as a workhorse, but as a creative source for genrating samples. Would be great, if performance issues were addressed, too, imagine, what a useful synth it would be.
Found one definitive cause for cpu spikes: The pitch module seems to increase the usage significantly, as long as it changes the pitch. Add a pitch-in to the sound, and activate/deactivate it to compare. This on a VA shape. What is strange here that the transpose and finetune knobs do not seem to introduce such usage... So why is it a different algorithm, couldn't the pitch module internally mapped to that transpose/finetune logic?
Still the initial, very short but huge spike on voice start is there. This one sums up, as soon as you use multiple osc and/or sound layers in the synth. And additionally sums up, if you use multiple instances in the arrangement and have the notes quantized, so all the oscs spike at exactly the same moment, which quickly causes audio drop outs, even on very fast cpus. Since this seems to be an architectual issue. An example preset is ARP / AR Dark Bassline. The spike here is almost double the size of the average load of the preset. It seems to be caused be the instanciation of the osc itself. Couldn't this be fixed by pre-calculating/pre-allocating some stuff? Or getting rid of those calculations and using different realtime algorithms instead? I wonder how other developers prevent this...
Last but not least, each 3 months revalidating is a bit annoying, maybe could be set to 6?

Very interesting find. Maybe you can send that to their support? (They are often reading here though).Hanz Meyzer wrote: Mon Sep 11, 2023 7:53 am
