Wow this looks like a great deal (ultimate strings!)

Let's see, no mention of multi-sampled instrument, which usually means it's loops, and mention of BPM speeds, another indication of loops. With past experiences, this usually ends up being the case. Best to write or call them first to verify.

talking to someone who owns it right now and he said
"i got this thing installed and currently loading articulations, i'd definitely have noticed if it were loops"

The sustains are looped but these are definitely multisampled string sections. The tempo designation probably refers to the up/down stroke samples which were recorded at different tempos.
Still think the Virtuoso Strings represents better value at this price, tho. You get more articulations and solo instruments.

I wouldn't buy it simply for that blatant lie. Besides, the mp3 demo is pretty unimpressive to me....the down strokes are mapped from C1 to B2 on the keyboard and the up strokes are mapped from C3 to C6. This feature provides unparalelled realism for fast sequences and is not available in any other string library!

It may well have been true at the time of release – this library is getting on a bit. This kind of thing often happens, nobody seems to bother updating these blurbs.Warmonger wrote:I wouldn't buy it simply for that blatant lie. im having my friend here on chat make me some sounds he said that the lib didnt really present the library well... From even listening to the demo I'm more impressed than with the kirk hunter. Maybe you guys want to compose classical music etc, but I just am looking for lush strings to back my music

That's cool it's multi samples then. It's worded pretty poorly, which is surpirsing for EastWest.
Keep in mind 'lush' strings comes from stacking and lots of work too with a nice reverb.

OK, Ron – let me confuse the matter some more.
If you just want some nice backing strings, you might want to check out Session Strings:
www.mtlc.net/main.php?a=scd&ShowCD=1647
It’s a smaller string section than the others and has a limited number of articulations but I think it sounds great. Listen to demo No 4 and tell me that’s not a sweet sounding string section.
$86,40 from www.mtlc.net

Its a little gem of a library. Maybe not as extensive as the more recent offerings but the sounds are really superb and, despite the odd tuning disrepency, well worth the money.
For what its worth, I own EWQSLO Gold, VSL performance set, Vitous and Sonic Implant strings and I still use the Ultimate Strings. The Kirk Hunter library has been gathering dust for several years.

The Virtuoso strings that I found by googling were the Kirk Hunter and they cost about $1,000.Yossarian wrote: Still think the Virtuoso Strings represents better value at this price, tho. You get more articulations and solo instruments.

Are we talking about the same thing here?
Do you have a link?
