I've often thought to myself that one of these could be really good. But I hadn't taken a few things into account. And those things are (because I got a decent card with an existing backplate).

  1. My card came with an aluminum backplate
  2. Twist ties are much safer and will not damage components during removal
  3. The backplate included came with venting holes
  4. It's very loud
Venting holes in backplate

Once you figure out where you want your new cooling plate to go; you adhere the thermal paste.
And yet, if there are holes for ventilation; they were put there for a reason. I had to cut away some of the thermal paste to allow that ventilation to occur.

Take a look at this picture (I of course cleaned off the excess). Keep in mind that I did further cuts to this; which I mark in orange.

These cuts allow the ventilation to take place, and for the cooler to function. There is no point trapping hot air inside the space between your graphics card and your aluminum backplate. Now that I have made this modification, the cooler is working like it should. When idling; my temperatures stay at 32 degrees celcius.

Using good twist ties
I did the install, and first used snaps; and yet; after the snaps were tight; it was very hard to remove the snap; I was lucky I did not do any damage to the card pulling it out; (sometimes, there are a few thin chips on the rear solder side).

here's the link to the twist ties for pc work I bought on amazon. They are quite heavy duty.
Below is a picture of the cooler attached to the gpu with the twist tie.

It's a really cheap device; but if your card is running hotter; it can't hurt. Under-volting in afterburner helped a lot; and now so has this Ice Butterfly product (a little). There are not many choices for upgrade; and those made available are pretty expensive ones, other than under-volting.

Loudness

You'll probably need a pcie fan speed controller; is a good idea but damn it is loud. I get 32 degrees Celsius now.
