Are there any small/lower end speakers people would recommend?
Seem to be doing more audio stuff in my little home office (v.small box room) and thought about ditching the pc speakers I was using (up till now just background music etc, fine for that). As I understand it, with a small room there's not much point looking for very low bass (standing waves and all that) so are any of the 3"/4" speakers from presonus, mackie etc worth a look? Volume would be low to medium, more interested in clarity than artificial hifi curves etc, not for serious mixing/mastering or anything just better than the HK speakers I'm using. Reviews seem to point at the ik ilouds but was hoping for a cheaper alternative (being cheap...)
exit: oh, and they'd be fairly close to a wall so rear ports could be problematic.
Cheers.

Don't be cheap when buying speakers, make an effort and get at least a pair of Genelec 8010A's; they are very compact, with great build quality and shocking clarity. Rear ported, but the recommended placement is somewhere between 5 and 60 cm from the front wall.

Yeah, I know, normally I would but this is a 2.3x2.8m box room that's never going to sound great and it's only for casual audio stuff, certainly no important decisions going to made on these speakers.
But if see a deal on those genelecs I'll add them to the list, thanks.
