Can't seem to confirm this. FL Studio is apparently available as plugins for other DAWs. But is it VST3?

Post

No... VST2 (respectively VSTi) only...

Such a shame - I use it all the time in Bitwig. It would be great to have some update of this plugin

I don´t think this has high priority for them...

They are updating plugin after plugin at the moment but it´s a slow process as there is just one dev working on them and it´s quite a lot of work.

At some point in time there might be a VST3 version but there is a huge question mark about the time frame...

It would be fantastic if they could do something like Reason Studios did - two versions of the Rack Plugin, one as synth and the other one as effect. This way we could have lightwight version of FL Studio instruments and effects which I quite often use

VST2 is dead, they need to offer a VST3 version of FL Studio 21 so it can be used in other DAWs as a plugin. It's 2023, VST3 is the current standard.

And what about the mobile plugin? Does that work only in FL Studio or in other DAWs as well? And if only in FL, can you have the mobile plugin inside the FL Studio VST, which is then loaded in another DAW? I've got the FL Studio Mobile on my phone and it's actually not bad at all.

VST2 is for sure not dead... all DAWs still support it while some DAWs don´t even have now VST3 support...
Nearly all plugins are still available as VST2 versions and are still sometimes better working than their VST3 counterparts...
Many older plugins are just available as VST2 and they still work fine...
Between Steinberg trying to push VST3 and VST2 is dead is a huge difference...

They will offer a VST3 version... the question is just when...
FLS 21 will be around for the next few years... so maybe you will see one in perhaps 1-4 years... does this help you now??
Maybe you´ll see a VST3 version with FLS 22... who knows...
Steinberg is the only company (atm) who plan to drop VST2 support as they were never able or never bothered to make it working properly in their DAWs even if it was their own code...

"VST2 is dead" might happen perhaps in 10 years... but for now it´s still very much alive...

Well, not dead, but ailing. Cubase actually warned me that VST2 support could stop at any point when enabling it. That's reassuring from Steinberg...

It's 2026 and the FL Studio plugin is still VST2.

At least on Mac I can use the AU but tbh I don't see the point as it doesn't even let me access instruments like Harmor, which would be my only real reason for wanting to use a FL Studio plugin. It looks like you can only use the built in synths and effects.
