Yeah I had that bug as well, after pingponging a bit with Patrick he made a fix the next day. 4.8.1 I think that is the right release.
I had to go back to 4.7.4 coz my Soundforce SFC-60 hangs/stalls when opening the plug the first time and I have to physically remove the usb cable.

I guess it's really just super frequent when a plugin is new. They tend to slow down and get updates across the board much less frequently after a while. So yeah maybe a check for update in the plugin? That's handy.
