Anything that can be gamed will be.
I had to RTFA a little deeper to understand the amounts involved. As I suspected given Spotify's payout rate, the values were relatively small. That does not negate the concern at all.
In the Baltimore area, links between local artists and drug gangs have surfaced in drug trials.
We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

while i agree, and prefer those genres, they didn't have the same impact as grunge did.
few thrash metal tracks made the billboard charts, and no death metal as far as i remember. aside from a couple of anthrax, a couple of metallica and same for megadeth, over here no other thrash ventured near the charts.

grunge was everywhere! even at fashion shows ffs  idiots spending a fortune on designer ripped jeans and flannel shirts. what a world!!!

Those bands aren't death metal or thrash bands, they are speed.metal.

The term 'trash metal' was literally coined for Anthrax.

there's an endless amount of scams and gaming of the system on spotify.. spotify runs some of the scams to benefit themselves. there's dozen or so articles about all the scams that happen and how artists lose the game and scammers win. spotify is just a tech bro grift.. venture capital, high stock valuation, big money extraction for the top and pennies for everyone else.

well i did say "no death metal reached the charts" and as they did, you can assume, i know they're not death metal.

they were 3 of the "big 4 thrash metal bands"

i would kind of agree, the best was long gone.
but a couple of justice tracks (the begining of the end...) made the charts here.
i wasn't talking about the black album onwards, as they don't really register on my memory.
