Studio One Upgrade in Thomann's webshop

Just a heads up: I just found out (dunno why I didn't take a look earlier) that Thomann offers the Studio One upgrades for significantly less than in Presonus' own shop.

For example: https://www.thomann.de/de/presonus_stud ... _5_pro.htm

As Presonus don't do their occasional 50% sales anymore either (the least I saw was 25% off), I think that's a good deal, if one wants to upgrade (Ok. not much gained really, from the 25% off deal, a mere 5 € or so, but, still :)).

That said, I'm not sure if that's not a time limited offer, as the "usual" price is striked out.

Time is not ripe for me yet. ;) Gonna wait what Studio One 7 brings new to the table.

Long wait to late 2024-early 2025-ish.

True, but, there's really nothing in versions 5 and 6 which would justify upgrading for me.

Interesting since v4 is but a distant (but fond) memory for me and I cannot imagine working with it now.

What exactly is it that S1 does not have that would make you upgrade?

V5 and v6 were/are chalk full of solid goodness. Just Track Templates alone were worth the trip to v6 for me.

Perfectly valid post...

I went to 5, nothing for me in 6 to go forking out £££'s... Maybe 7..?

Will be taking a good look at Cubase 13 in the meantime

Good question. A bigger GUI overhaul (Studio One's GUI is fine and functional, but, nothing special). Merging MIDI controllers and instruments in the controller settings. Tracks being able to transmit on all MIDI channels (I wrote something about that here: viewtopic.php?p=8695342&hilit=channels#p8695342). Sample & hold as automation curve as suggested here: https://answers.presonus.com/58259/samp ... tion-curve Just a few examples. Single points will surely not be enough to make me want to update, but, if they implement a couple of these things, it might make me want to do so.

I definitely will upgrade at some point, but, versions 5 and 6 simply didn't have enough interesting features for me to do so.
