I actually quite like the stereo widening on Waves Abbey Road Mastering plugin, I wonder how it compares to that as well.

Waves is just an ordinary Side signal "pusher". Works only with the stereo signal. Ozone (or Melda) can work with mono signal. In this case it creates the side information beforehand.
